Default osx notation external notation/score editor / viewer

I have outgrown garageband and am evaluating reaper. The only feature I am missing is the ability to view/print notation/scores. My needs are minimal, I was getting along fine with garageband.

Can you recommend some external notation/score viewer/editors that I can evaluate for OSX?

I print scores just for myself. I often work out ideas at a piano, record a midi version, and then print out scores for use at the piano.

Musescore is excellent open source and free. It's certainly worth a look.

musescore seems more feature rich that I need, I would prefer something simpler. I do like that is supports lead sheets. I will keep working with it and see if I can find easy ways to do simple things. I won't clutter this thread with my musescore questions.

Default Musescore is fine

I also do enjoy a free scorewriter Capriccio. You may find it under www.cdefgabc.com. It's the easiest score editor I know.

Default using cubase now

I am now using cubase because really wanted:

integrated scoring
nifty vst expression map stuff

I am very pleased with everything that I tried in reaper. I am recommending everyone try it. In the end, reaper's wonderfully simple approach was a bit too limited for me so I needed to purchase many features I do not care at all about in Cubase to get two more features I wanted. Ah well...

Musescore is pretty basic; you need to just ignore what you don't use (kinda like Reaper).

You might want to look at Melody Assistant from http://myriad-online.com
Cheap and easy; lifetime upgrades.
I used to use Harmony Assistant, their full-page wysiwyg editor but Musescore is free....

How did you get it working in OSX?
