I got it!!

As I am posting this, I am cranking. As you know my favorite cd is Universe, however, this one just topped it off the pedestal IMHO..

Thank you Dimi.

The cd is fine - that's all that matters. I am listening to it while I post. No scratches, no nothing, just the case. I have plenty of cases I can substitute.

Thank you for your concern.

Whoa! "Shangri La" is smoking! I love that song. You're very talented.

Dude, that's like one of those classic jazz instrumentals that actually takes you somewhere and brings you back, except it's rock. Man, that's a hit song (or should be) if I ever heard one.

Sweet. I'm gonna buy that one from iTunes. Did you hire Omar Hakim? The drummer is rolling on that one.

dimitar, the first link to Shangri La didn't work when I tried it.

But I've got your CD anyway and I love it.

Default shreddingly cool

Sweet. Obviously, your material rocks beyond professional level. Yes, it totally kicks ass. Man oh man, does it kick ass.

I gotta say, your fast playing puts the guitar thru shredder. (How many replacement fret boards did you need )

That said, it's cool to hear someone who can play fast, who does not just play fast all the time, just for the sake of playing fast.

** I am extremely impressed at the results Reaper gave you in mastering. **

p.s. yeah I hear the Satch/Vai influence. Upon first listening of the 3 tracks here, I thought back to Vai's first solo CD, etc. However, just because Dimitar uses the the Lydian scale (ex. middle of Shangri La, start of Elements) here and there, it's not his fault that scale is so associated with Satch and Vai. Listen some more, deeper. There's tons of cool song-manship and production here. Remember, it's not so easy to make good guitar-only (no singer) album. (Wow I feel weird as a guitarist defending a guy because he plays the Lydian scale fast )

Very nice! I think it kicks anything done by Via myself (never was a fan tho...). I am looking to see what funds we have left, so I can order the Christmas Special also....if it is still on........

Also, I would kill to know the setting used on the Kick & Snare drum, I can come close, but not that tight! (and I realize that the Mastering had a lot to do with it, I would just be interested in what plugins were used on the tracks themselves)

Thanks for sharing the music!

Hi Dimi - I noticed that you use a Fernandes Sustainer. Two questions: Which instrumental did you use it on (Mother Earth)?
Did you have the sustainer installed by your local luther?

I know that Neil Schon and Steve Vai use this fine electronic gear. As you know that most of us that record via a DAW (direct) cannot achive any real amp feedback or good sustain for the most part.

Thanks for your time.

Thank you and Happy New Year! You Can download my Ad Drums settings from my website. One of my "tricks" is that I'm using Steven Slate Kick to replace my original kick drum and some of the snares on some tracks and they are processed with EQ and compression by Steven.

Cheers,
Dimi

Hi my friend! "Shangri La" is recorded with the Sustainer
Also you can hear it clearly at the end of "Keep Mother Earth Alive"
Another good example is at 1:30 in "The Four Elements"
Happy New 2009!!!
If you have more questions please ask me
