Best program for carving out space in a reverb (or something else).
So a couple products with some overlap -
TrackSpacer (32 band sode-chain ducker)
Soniformer (32 band compressor that can be sidechain ducked)
Neutron (8 band dynamic EQ. Can be made into 12 bands if you count hipass, lowpass, and shelves. Can be sidechained).
ReaComp (infinit band comp. Can be sidechained).
Do any of these have benefits over the other as far as quality (transparency)? If you're simply trying to create some space (for example, create a sidechain reverb duck, so that the reverb backs away certain frequencies when a new instrument comes in).
Is there another product that does this better? Exponential Audio's R4 has the inbuilt ability to do this for you btw.
Is there any other program / alternative to Trackspacer?
btw, 20,000 / 32 = 625Hz, so I guess a 32band compressor has 625 Hz per band? On the other hand, if the range I want to duck is only 500Hz - 10KHz, I really only need 15 bands (but I'd still rather have 30 bands in that range, and make the ducking more accurate).
