Another song collaboration with Toleolu. Another of his guitar tracks that inspired a song.

Kind of reminds me of something like Bowie, combined with Pink Floyd, with a touch of Rod Stewart....Yet still sounds amazing. I enjoyed it

Thanks mate. When I got the initial track from Charles it put me in mind of Neil Young, and I had completely forgotten he wrote a song of the same name. Glad you enjoyed it, we've been tearing our (sparse) hair out over the last finishing touches and neither of us wants to go back to it. It's a wrap.

Yeah I tend to go over my stuff a few times, then eventually say 'f**k it, it's done' eventually you just have to decide it's as good as you are gonna get it.

Yep. In my experience when you keep improving tracks there is a point where they get worse and the mix dies, then you have to chase around in previous mixes to find where you went wrong. Thankfully reaper is the most forgiving DAW in that respect. rpp.bak_undo lifesaver.

Barry your voice is so distinctive, in a good way. From the first note I know without doubt it's you. Like I've said it's a good thing.
Like the tune structure, guitars sound real good. I'm listening on good old 70's home stereo system which i know to be bass heavy so take that in to consideration but the mix seems a touch heavy on bass guitar or possibly the tone needs a little sweetening to get it to sit back a touch. Maybe just
This stereo. Other then that sounds great. I dig it.
Look forward to more from this dynamic duo !!

I always find placing bass and lead vocals in their sweet spots the hardest part of mixing. Once I attenuated the bass, as always, it had some repercussions affecting other parts of the mix. I ended up putting a limiter on the lead vocal and dropping the gain a bit. The solo guitars then sounded too prominent so they got tweaked. I think it's worked. Good song. To me, your voice resembles Clapton. Gotta say, I like verse one lyrics best, when I'm still wondering what happened to the poor fellow.

Thanks for listening. I keep being told my voice reminds people of EC. I don't hear it myself but I'll take it as a compliment. He is one of my favourite singers although I don't try to emulate him, this is simply how I sound.
As for the song's protagonist, I think in the end she found out where he was, called him up to say she forgave him, they met to make up and she shot him. A glittering prize offered fo a better scenario....

Top song mate - echoing the sentiments of what others have said, great vocal, very British in delivery, definitely elements of Bowie and Clapton, all wrapped up in a lonesome soundscape. Great stuff!

Thanks for that, much appreciated. Once again without my pal Charles' original track I wouldn't have written it. Add his guitars - team effort. The wonders of the Internet Stratford upon Avon and Hawaii....

Many thanks to all of you for your kind words regarding this, and the other songs Barry and I have done together.
I've been lurking around this forum for years, hoping for an opportunity to put some of my music out there. I've never done anything like this before, and have to admit I was a bit nervous at first. I'm very pleased and grateful for how things are being received so far.
All the credit has to go to Barry. I just play the guitar, he does everything else, including the mix/master.
And yes, Stinger and TJW, he does sound a bit like Clapton, which I think is awesome. Now if I could just play like Clapton, we'd really have something.
