Put a SOLO button in the MIDI Editor Toolbar?
I would like to put a Solo button in the MIDI Editor window's toolbar; I am always having to close the midi ed window so I can get to the solo button on the track (I could change the whole layout, but I like the way I have it and I'm used to it) but I can't figure out how to do this, or if it's even possible.

Why would you want to do that when you have solo buttons in MIDI editor tracklist?

maybe it will soon be possible... even though ED is right...
I can see where it might be a nice thing on a TB
in the meantime... you can also use main window actions for solo track by track number, and if you don't have a zillion tracks you can assign a midi hot key such as the notes in the highest octave and then also put the midi note filter on the tracks as an Input FX to not allow those notes as input.
you don't get a TB [yet] but you do get to use a midi key to solo the tracks
and IF you wanted to solo more than one track you could make some custom actions with various toggle track numbers...

I don't really like the tracklist. I use it occasionally, but I would rather have the real estate on the screen.
Can I assume what I want isn't possible?

It doesn't seem to be for the toolbar, I don't think.
You could assign a key to the "pass-through" action, and if you have that same key assigned to "solo selected tracks" action, it would work...

When I try to import the mpl repository, Reapack says "The received file is invalid: Error reading attributes. https://github.com/MichaelPilyavskiy/ReaScripts"
I downloaded the action itself. I even imported it into the Actions list, but when I put it on the toolbar and run it, it says "unexpected character after>" or something like that and nothing happens.

I have it in:
C:\Users\<my name user>\AppData\Roaming\Reaper\Scripts\MPL Scripts\MIDI editor

I got it working, no thanks to Reapack. I had to delete all the garbage from the script I downloaded (and it never did appear in Reapack, no matter what I did) and paste the actual script in after copying it from the listing on its url. Once I did that, it worked fine - it's great! The button lights up when it's soloed, too.
Thanks!

I just tried installing it from ReaPack and it works fine here. The repository error you're seeing tells me you put the wrong url in. Use this: https://github.com/MichaelPilyavskiy...ster/index.xml
If you're seeing an error about a >, you probably downloaded it as HTML or something. Right-click the following link and choose Save As, then make sure you save the file with the .lua extension on it.

you may need to update reapack to it's newest and then also to have it sync packages
it certainly does work, since I just went and got that mpl script with it
filter was mpl solo
now over in JSFX area, I've asked Lokasenna about a new script for this...
which of course is up to him, but IF he does it, I hope you'll donate something to him.
The reason would be that the mpl will not work if you have multiple tracks set to active in the ME... so my thinking is that one of Loka's Save as scripts would let one generate versions that would do that...

Why not just bind a key or a toolbar button to Show/Hide Track List?

I thought the whole point of Reapack was that it is supposed to make things easier , and I guess for those of you for whom it works, it does, but I feel like somebody who just stumbled into a linux meeting when all I've ever used is a Mac.
What I have now works, that's good enough for me, and I'd rather spend my time making music that tweaking. Reaper is fabulous when it works, but I have sure had a lot of trouble with the add-ons.
Oh, and I DID right click that link and I saved it as a .lua script and I STILL got all that html garbage in it - I opened it with a text editor and there was tons and tons of code. I had the same problem a while back with a .lua script from Lokasenna that he put on his dropbox account and I ended up doing the same thing - copying it from a browser page and pasting it in to the script window in Reaper manually.

https://reapack.com/repos
I remember helping you with that - if memory serves, we established that your browser (Safari, I think?) was misbehaving and not keeping the proper file format. Very frustrating, I agree, but not ReaPack's fault.
