Nice. The story did appear to end well.

I found the latter part, from 2.23 something, to be musical. Improvised melody? Wouldn't hurt with some more work.
That first part with a lot of sounds going on (really loud) had that repetitive "theme" on top, which sounded a bit "it is what it is"...
To put it bluntly: You had all the material to make music, but (I guess) didn't spend too much time organizing and arranging the piece. Been there, done that.
I find this particularly cumbersome when dealing with rich synth sounds. Everything sounds fab and exciting.

I think this is a good composition. The mood changes throughout the work in a logical way. It tells a story and takes you somewhere. Sure, there are no catchy melodies, but I don't think it is meant to be a nursery rhyme or pop song. The work is over three minutes long, but it seems much shorter. There are plenty of surprises. It's not boring.

Thanks for listening!
Jorgen, you have some valid points. I can assure you that a lot of time went into the composition, as well as coordinating files from 3 other contributors. It's been something like a year and a half in process.
Strangely enough I just posted what I hope is the last version. Structurally, it's the same form, but I decided to focus on unifying the beat. It's a difficult signature to listen to, 13/8. So, some of things I was doing, I felt, added a bit of confusion.
Timewaster, thanks for coming back.
Hopefully, it's sorted now. At least it's as good as I can get it and still remain true to the spirit of the piece.
Grateful for everyone's time!
Steve

I thought it was pretty cool and I'm sort of amazed that 4 people worked on that to bring it to one song. I mean how do you figure out who does what and when?
It was vevy interesting and a good recording. I could see that being played in an art museum or something.
At the Calatrava. That's this fancy building we have in Milwaukee...

41Twin, I am honored that you listened.
William Sanford and I worked out parts of it together, then I sent stems back to Bill, and also Jon, who sent back complete deconstructions. I did final assembly and production, which also included improvs from Bill and musicologist Mike Ethen. It was a challenge and a welcome change of pace from how I normally work.
Thanks for your kind comments. I've been to Milwaukee numerous times when I lived in Wisconsin.
