Default Sends: Performance difference between mute and zero db?

I'm bulding a rather large template with a number of sends on each track and am wondering the following..

Is there any difference in performance (RAM, CPU usage, other) between muting unused sends or setting them at zero db?
In both cases the FX on the receiving track will stay enabled.

Mute: No sound gets through

0 dB: All sound gets through with the level unchanged.

Hope that is helpful...

^^^^ I think OP did mean setting the send faders at -inf dB rather.

Yeah, I thought so too. But I've been flamed a few hundred times too often to try interpreting OPs any more.

This was discussed at length in this thread:

Unless I’ve completely misunderstood the OP, that has nothing to do with it.

The answer to this particular question (really regardless of the 0db vs -inf db thing) is no. Like they said, the FX are running on their own track anyway and will use whatever resources they use whether the send is muted or not.

(Well ok, some plugins work a little harder when they have actual audio to process, but I think you get the point. The send mute button by itself doesn’t help.)

You may be right. I'm not sure what the OP is asking, especially with the whole "0db" thing.

Reading the OP again, the thread in my link has nothing to do with this after all. I was way off.
