Default How can I stretch audio to adjust for drift?

I recorded a bunch of tracks at the same time but I used multiple interfaces. When I aligned the tracks together in post, I noticed that as the song progresses, they drift out of time. Not sure why it happened as everything was set to 24bit 48khz but I guess it's a gap in my knowledge.

How can I shrink one audio track by a small fraction so that they line up?

You could do it with stretch markers.

It probably happened because the interfaces' clocks weren't locked / synchronised. Some interfaces have clock in/out connections for this reason.

Probably simpler than stretch markers would be to alt-drag the right hand side of an item to get it to line up.

Musobob thanks for the video, none of my devices have ADAT unfortunately. How do I use stretch markers?

Alt left drag the item right edge will timestretch the item length. If you zoom in far enough and have some good reference point to line up you should get in the ballpark.

But if mics recording the same source (or have any significant bleed) were across different interfaces then you will probably never achieve perfect phase between them.

Basically bad idea to use multiple devices with no clock sync.

don't ever use multiple devices, it's not a good idea at all.
