Default A different M1 problem : finicky trackpad

I don't have too many issue with my 2021 14" M1 Pro (that I had to grab when I closed my workhorse 2015 over a pack of gum in the upper left corner and destroyed the video board) except one: the trackpad, while it works, is simply not nearly as responsive and accurate as the one in the 2015. It's finicky. I've been making do with it, convincing myself that it's me, but today I've decided it definitely isn't me and I need to remedy this or everything is going to take twice as long to get done.

What external trackpads are you all using that let you work as fast as you can? I used to use a Wacom for a while but it was half helpful and half a hindrance, so I don't think a tablet is in my immediate future. Not happy on a trackball, unfortunately. I'm pretty certain a top shelf trackpad is the ticket.

Anyone have any recommendations ? Thanks!!!!

Finicky how? My Intel one works as expected I think. Thinking of an M2 MacBook Pro though.

It's just not as smoothly responsive as the MBP 2015 15" it replaced. And doesn't seem to be entirely accurate as far as modifiers. I'll do an extra bit of fudging to get the cursor where I want and if I do it with too much intention sometimes a menu will pop out, as if I used two fingers for a right click. Wasn't the case on the other. Looking at bluetooth trackpads that are good for DAWs but not finding anything that feels good enough.

I have the same model. Trackpad behaviour got better with macOS 13.2.

Huh. That's interesting. I always stay behind the latest major update, as there's usually nothing I need and no reason to do it. But this is a huge reason. Thanks, Kewl.
