Here's something that isn't quite clear to me.
Code:
3237F4DD3FFFD0B8=Transport: time unit to ruler
If I set a time unit in the transport and trigger, nothing happens.
If I set the time unit in the ruler and trigger, the display in the transport window changes.
To my understanding it should say
Code:
3237F4DD3FFFD0B8=Transport: time unit from ruler
Am I wrong?
I posted this here, because it concerns translation.
Thanks.

When calling
Code:
36DEDC3F2C88F762=Help: All actions
and the list is shown in the browser, you see something like this:
Quote:
Edit: Anhängende Noten, kürzer als 1/8-Note, in ausgewählten MIDI-Items löschen
Edit: Noten, kürzer als 1/16-Note, in ausgewählten MIDI-Items löschen
|
Is there something that can be done to fix this?

Maybe this is nit-picky, but I got a bit of a problem here.
Code:
57F28E456CC0FEEB=Pitch
This is used in the main MIDI editor window in the rolldown that determines how to set the colors of notes and events.
It is also used in the filter of the MIDI editor in the rolldown that determines the event-type.
In the main MIDI editor setting the rolldown to "Pitch" sets each note to a different color, whereas in the filter "Pitch" selects the pitch bender controller. The latter one would be used in German as well, but the first one (where the colors of notes are set) needs an extra (German) string, that I can't set, because both use the same hash and I can't find separate hashes for both i.e. a dedicated hash to one of the rolldowns.
I'd appreciate some help here.

We'll make sure one of them can go in a separate section, then...

That action should really be "Transport shows time unit OF ruler", I suppose.

Another little one:
At the bottom of the MIDI editor we have the scale rolldown (or roll-up, if you'd rather), holding the note denotations i.e. "C, C#, D...". In some countries these notes are denoted differently. E.g. in German this is:
Code:
US -> Ger
C -> C
D -> D
E -> E
F -> F
G -> G
A -> A
B -> H
I can't change this.
I know, this might not be important and I'm a bit picky again, but IMHO these are also the things that make the difference.
(I'm ridiculing myself, that's obvious, but what the heck?)

Well, I'm a bit embarrassed again and feel a bit guilty of making your life harder.
I have the problem that I can't keep the Mouse modifier actions in the action lists in a consistent format.
Code:
;BF0CAFC24857E546=Set default mouse modifier action for \"%s %s\" to \"%s\"
In German it would be necessary to have it look like this...
Code:
Standard-Mausmodifikator-Action \"%s, %s\" ändern in \"%s\"
to maintain readability and perspicuity (note the comma dividing the '%s')
This is no problem in the main action list, but in the MIDI editor action lists I can't do this (at least, I haven't found a way to do so), because I've only got...
Code:
[mousemap]
9965C532C14FFE31=Standard-Mausmodifikator-Action
167FBDFE83A381FB=(Werkseinstellung)
D89CC7186B79C49A=ändern in
which results in a string without the comma at the needed position.
Now I could put the comma in the terms themselves e.g.
Code:
0F86449BA247E523=MIDI-Editor,
but that doesn't work, because I'd end up with two commas right after each other in the main action list. Furthermore, these commas would also appear in the context rolldown menu of the Mouse Modifier page in Preferences.
What can I do?

Yet another umlaut thingy here:
When choosing Project settings on tab "Media" and clicking on one of the "Browse..." buttons, we get this:
It should look like this:
Code:
BABD655B2A5AED87=Dateiordner auswählen:

There are still some strings that don't appear in the template file or won't translate for some reason.
- Several strings in the "About REAPER" dialog (especially the "Purchase" tab, where hashes for entries in "License type:" are not available) and in the caption of main window.
- String "<prompt on load>" in the langpack selector and Preferences -> Genaral
- Strings in submenu of "Switch toolbar" menu
- Strings in submenu of menu when right-clicking FX I/O button
- 10A39DA0E45862D7=Audio input and 60088D80879236E8=Audio output "Left" and "Right"
- CBA27F2F49239756=MIDI input "MIDI input enabled"
- MIDI output "Replaces MIDI bus (default)" and "Merges with MIDI bus" (these strings are translated but still appear in English)
- "MIDI Bus xx" (where "Bus" is probably the same as "channel"?)
- Strings in rolldown of [DLG_438] ; IDD_CUSTOMIZE_MENU
- Screensets/Layouts window:
- The Tabs' captions
- When "Edit shortcuts" is clicked, appears "screenset: window set #" in the filter of the action window and the actions appear in the list, but when using a non-english langpack, these actions are translated, which leads to an empty list.
- Menu View -> Video Window
- No strings for complete window including its menu
- String in window "Transient Detection Settings"
- "Move by at least 1 pixel when navigating by transients"
- Window "MP3 File Properties"
- [DLG_158] ; IDD_SURFACEEDIT
- Strings "MIDI input:" and "MIDI output:"
- Strings in message box "MIDI Editor timebase help"
- Strings in message box "VST scanning error + note"
- All strings including caption
- Strings in window "Preferences -> Editing Behavior -> Automation"
- All strings are translated, but the hashcodes have changed. (rolldowns appear translated though)
- Strings in Theme blend/alpha dialog (probably needs to be a bigger window for translated text)
- Strings in "Save" and other dialogs that use the following ones:
- "Create subdirectory for project"
- "Copy all media into project directory, using:"
- "Convert media"
- "Format..." (Well, it's the same in German)
- "Trim"
- "Move all media into project directory"
- strings in "Save track template" dialog
- The caption itself i.e. "Save track template"
- "Include track items in template"
- "Include envelopes in template"
- Strings in the bwf-chunk rolldown of the "Format", "Render", "Project settings" and possibly other dialogs where they are used.
- "Do not include markers or regions"
- "Markers + regions"
- "Markers + regions starting with #"
- "Markers only"
- "Markers starting with # only"
- "Regions only"
- "Regions starting with # only"
- Caption of Window "Choose format for Apply FX/Glue/Freeze/etc"
- String in "Project Settings" dialog on tab "Media". won't translate as well:
- "Set media format for Apply FX, Glue, Freeze, Open Copy, etc:"
- Strings in dialog [DLG_262] ; IDD_TCCONFIG in the rolldown for inputs: "MTC: All Inputs" and "SPP: All Inputs"
- String "Enable track metering" in Track Performance menu
- String "Recently used" in submenu of fx-add menu (should probably be in [fxadd])
- String "Update all similar items in project with new filename" in "Select replacement file:" dialog
- String "Create new database..." in menu on left side of Media explorer (probably this: [explorer_MENU_103] ; IDR_CONTEXTMENU)
- String "Media explorer" in the "Section:" rolldown of the actions window won't be displayed translated whatsoever, no matter what I try.
- Dialog [DLG_275] ; IDD_ACTION_USERACCEL
- Strings in the input field at "Shortcut:" when inputting MIDI
- Dialog "Create new database" completely
- String "Region/Marker Manager" in/for docker tab
- Strings in "Region/Marker Manager" menu
- "Import regions/markers (replace existing)..."
- "Import regions/markers (merge with existing)..."
- "Export regions/markers..."
- All Strings in [DLG_511] ; IDD_WILDCARD_HELP except the caption
This list might not be complete, but I'm referring mainly to 'old' strings anyway, not to strings for changed or new functions, that couldn't have been in the template anyway.

Once again: Umlauts
Seems to be this:
Code:
CC85814B7AF4CCED=REAPER 3.x balance (deprecated)
and should look like this:
Code:
CC85814B7AF4CCED=REAPER 3.x Balance (überholt)

Localization - was it dropped?
New UI texts were not made available to translate from February. Does it mean localization was abandoned?

This is once you have lost a feature that you really appreciate it.
=> suggestion: it would be great if localized menus could be sorted alphabetically like the defauklt English menus
.. and my +1 for a new template LangPack too!

[DLG_184] ; IDD_TSMARKEREDIT
Is missing "start new measure" and "allow partial measure" in the template (it still has the old 30CEDD945AFC126E=Set time signature .

It's more than 16 months now since the last langpack file update.
Is there any way, that the localize teams could create the hash-code lists themselves?
Thus we also could keep it more up-to-date.
Localized Reapers more and more look kinda ridiculous (at least the German one), showing mixed localized/English menus and dialogs.
On the other hand, going back to the original version can be quite confusing, hence disturb ones workflow immensely.

Thanks for the new langpack file.
Now, that I 'complained' about not having a new one for so long, I can download and leave it untouched for a while, before taking a look at it.

Hi !
i don't know if i really post that at the good place but i wanted to highlight 2 langpack issues.
One UFT-8 error (accent problem) in the midi editor :
Code : 8D4D0B4B0B6A41EE
sometimes it appears like that :
and one Untranslatable Window
(Almost all parameters of that Configuration Window are untranslatable 'menu, track view, selection sets...)

the fact is Áÿõ etc... doesnt even exist in my (french) language :P (we do have Ç À É Ë Ê, i have to admit it, but just ocassionnaly in a specific context, not randomly in our sentences :P)
in the langpack, it's just written 'Afficher les poignées de vélocité sur les notes'
no à no Å no Ā or whatsoever :P
i have to admit that this infinite charaters string is quite beatiful for ASCII art lover but it is not very user friendly

We have the same problem in German. It seems that those issues have to be corrected one by one, because I while ago I asked whether this couldn't be corrected in one go, but I didn't get an answer. We seem to have to point to every single case in which this error occurs.
In German we have only "Ä Ö Ü ä ö ü ß" (and in very rare cases "Ë ë É é Ï ï"... used in names) and every character is erroneously converted to two characters "Ä Ö U ä ö ü ß" (respectively "Ë ë É é à ï"). Therefore you see characters that aren't used in your language. And also therefore strings might get awfully long.

While we're at it:
exporting regions/markers list when having loaded the German langpack, in the .csv file we see "Nr. Name Start Ende Länge" (which in fact should be "Nr. Name Start Ende Länge") in Excel in line 1, which makes it impossible to import the file back into Reaper again, because Reaper expects the header line to be "# Name Start End Length" even with the German (and probably any other) langpack.
Also: another issue with the regions/markers list (it has nothing to do with localization btw.) is, that inserting markers in the project isn't reflected in the list. It only shows regions. What am I missing or doing wrong?

That's weird because all other accent are well translated... except that one in the midi Editor. =/
So well. Now... i guess we have to wait until the correction of that problem... if it's possible ^^
I find other untranslatable menu item (HELP menu) :
"ACTION LIST AS HTML"
and
"KEY BINDINGS AND MOUSE MODIFIERS"

Yes, maybe the other cases have been addressed already so they translate properly.

Strings that are not translatable might not be in the template file yet. (Or are they? haven't got the file handy right now.)

At least it is not wrong to do so. As you can see in my post 171 of this very thread, I did as well. However, since I hadn't the chance to check the updated langpack file since then, I don't know which strings mentioned in the post have been implemented.

Default menu: Main view
Show track render menu nested by folders
Play region through then repeat or stop when selecting a region

Guys, thank you very much for the detailed reports, that helped a lot!
Please, keep 'em going!
v4.62pre8 should fix most of those issues, the menu corruption fix is also avail in v4.611 (it could lead to a crash). I say "most of them" because the remaining ones are either due to an "outdated" template langpack or require a bit more work. More fixes to come, and a new template will be released...

Oh
so you want more of this ?
Here it comes !
In the export window, the re-sampling mode :
The "Extrême" setting and some others have small problems.
I'm so glad you care about that localization issue, I think it's very important for Reaper in order to look good and polished Beginners are easily confused with that kind of stuff.

and some other in Action Pannel concerning Note (lock and Unlock) and Note "define the help files for the actions" (i dont know the english equivalent for these actions).
I hope it will help
