Default Paste MIDI creating new item

Is there a way to just paste the MIDI notes in the clipboard into the current selected track at the cursor position without inserting an empty MIDI item first? I haven't figured out if this is possible, and it's a hassle to create the new MIDI item, open it, move the cursor, paste the notes and then resize the item to fit the span of the pasted notes...

Thanks!

Bump.

This is killing me. Is there an easy way to implement this (eg with a custom script like "Insert->New MIDI item with clipboard contents")?

Thanks.

You need to set up 2 custom actions and you will be able to do it in 2 clicks of the same key

1) Main section

Insert new MIDI item
Item : Open in new MIDI editor

2) MIDI Editor
Move cursor to start of loop
Paste
View : Go to start of the file

Bind it to the same key and press it twice

Hello Viente. Thank you for the suggestion.

For some reason the "move cursor to start of loop" is not working. Also, how do I resize the new MIDI item to match the pasted notes?

Thanks again. Cheers!

Hmm maybe i have different editing preferences but it works here. I'll try to test with default settings. After paste you just need to adjust the length manualy by dragging the item's edge. Still its a lot faster. I'll think how to implement auto resize.

Yes you're right
It works completely different with default settings.

Maybe its becuase i have linked time selection and edit cursor. I can't say now because there is a lot of things i've reconfigured from default settings

I think there is a bug in 'Move cursor to start/end of loop' actions when used inside a custom macro. Are you able to reproduce the bug I reported here:

Thanks Viente & jnif. Yes, I can reproduce the bug. I'm playing with my configuration settings to see if anything makes a difference. I am also looking the script API; it seems to give me more control on the item to resize, but I don't see a way of pasting from the clipboard!

Cheers.
