Good morning Reaper world again.

Whatsup, perhaps it really makes sense to rename the Super Arp parameters "amount" and "speed" in the bpm section.
In Ableton terminology , for example, "amount" would be called "steps" and "speed" would be called "distance".
Of course, you might call them differently. But especially "speed" needs another term for it, so the word "interval" would be more descriptive.

And while you are at enhancing your Super Arp again:

Would you consider implementing the assigning of individual note lengths per variant ?
(I know I am asking for difficult features now)...

But this arp will be a monster soon anyway, I believe, like the whole Reaper already is...

Regarding one of your previous posts:
Thanks for suggesting to play around with the Pingpong or Velo settings, I will do that today.

it's very easy i think
I retested the Super Arp's behaviour, and E.Dragon is right. There is no way to get standard piano arpeggio when using Up&Down modes (bounce or sticky) - even with the use of the grid. (Mode "Up" works well so far.)

I get, for example, when I use a 2 step grid with the variants -12 and 0, Mode=UP&Down(sticky), Alternate= On, Sorted= On; (and default settings in the BPM section); and input a C maj chord via MIDI,
the following resulting output pattern:
g2 e2 c2 c3 e3 g3

But it is expected to be: c2 e2 g2 c3 e3 g3 (and back to beginning in reverse order, then starting again).

Please add therefore a selection of common modes to the Arp, if possible. And then this thingie would seriously rule !

yes,
right now it's possible this way,
the notes mode should be up
variants or transpose or whatever you like to whatever you like
and when the transpose/or the variants goes down
you press, reverse note order, or automate it

i'll do something, but not so soon, i have other tasks to finish

So E.Dragon and I are very perceptive, aren't we ? :-)
At least we detected this special ...uhm... quality of the Super Arp...

Friend Whatsup ! You deserve a vacation on the Bahamas right now, before you start working on your "other tasks" ... but who'll pay this vacation ?
Perhaps there's gonna be a collection of cents/pennies to be raised...

So take your time...don't stress yourself too much with those other tasks...
in order to be fit some day for SUUPER ARRRP again...

BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT WORTHY!! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

OK, seriously - did you download the Super Arpeggiator from the third link in whatsup's signature? If you downloaded it with the "bundle" I think he forgot to include the bitmap file with that one.

The bitmap file is called "midi_super_arp_bg.png" and should be put in the same folder with the plugin under the "\Reaper\Effects\" folder.

cheers

Hi !

I'm also interested in this JS Arp. Here is the only link I've found in the stash : https://stash.reaper.fm/v/3819/midi_super_arp_bg.zip

It seems we discovered it too late ;-) Anyone knows where to get the last version ?

whatsup, the main author of this plugin is no longer active on these forums, but I believe he said before he left that you can contact him at his email link (look at post #87) if you want to get any of his plugins.

IIRC, he got p***** for having one of his posts erased (or something similar), so he just left us. A pity, though he was outspoken (to say the least ), he had plenty good ideas as well...

Yes, I believe you have to record the MIDI output of the arp.

Bumping an older one for a question. I just found this Super Arpeggiator and it seems pretty nice. Unfortunately, in one of the smaller monitors that I use, the Grid slider stays unseen below the bottom of the screen. I simply can't maximize or scroll the plugin screen down enough to get to the slider, so I can't use the arpeggiator at all.

I tried to look x's and y's in JS script, but luckily don't know much to try and change anything. Screen scaling or moving Grid slider below the other controls would help.

email "whatsup", he said he would still support and help his plugins. it may take a bit of time (couple wks or so) to get a response but he does. Also might help to put the name of the plugin in the subject so he sees it right away. If he updates it I'm sure he'll send a new package to replace the old.

Cheers,

Will do, thanks.

edit: I actually managed to move the variant slider below the other controls, above the grid. It works, the mouse is active on right places and all, but it's kinda hacked. Have to play with few more lines.

The most important missing thing in this nice arpeggiator is beat-syncing.

There should be a buton like in arp4midi to make arpeggios sound in stable-as-a-rock sync with the beat > while the song is playing <.

It would be the best arp in the world with this feature!

Mario

I really like this arpeggiator - finally it will be possible to make complex classic PPG Waves synth style arpeggios (like early Depeche Mode, The Twins, etc.).

I'm not sure if he's "updating" or just bug fixing, but email whatsup and mention it. his email is in post #87, like I've said tho he could take a few to respond...He's (from his email ext) in Isreal. but he seems pretty open to bugs & fixes. The worst that could happen is it stays like it is.

Cheers,

It seems this is really really broken in v4 of reaper.

Here, it freezes reapers playhead and otherwise freaks out as long a note is held down. Any one here running this without an issues?

Default Thanks Argee...

Will check it out as soon as my audio PC is back from the manufacturer - one of the RAM modules crapped out on me, sad to say...

But I was able to look at the file named "midi_super_arp_bg.png" in your ZIP archive and it looks like the version I already have.

So I mailed to Whatsup directly about his newest version...

Anyway, thanks again, Argee.

Likewise, I have it working flawlessly in 4.02...

Ah, by the way, E.D., do you have a version of SuperArpeggiator newer than 2009/2010 ? Or do you even have v2 ? Would you mind sending it to me via PM ? Or mail it to me directly by using my mailing address in the imprint of my site (see signature)...

Thanks to you in advance.

For the variant grid, click or click-drag to place variants, right-click to delete, ALT-left click to zero them.

For the Pattern Number you can either click the arrows or click-drag on the value box.

Thanks to whatsup for doing a ton of work on this! I really think he's created an amazing little plugin.

cheers

Here you go...

https://stash.reaper.fm/11735/midi_su...ggiatorGUI.zip

This is not necessarily the latest version but it's the last version that I have on my drive. Every now and then it seems someone is looking for this, so I thought I might as well re-post it. Hopefully "whatsup" doesn't mind.

I can't offer any support for this plugin, it was primarily whatsup's creation, I just did the graphics stuff and that was so long ago, I don't remember most of what I did!

You need to make sure the file 'midi_super_arp_bg.png' (which should be in the zip file in the link above) is in the same folder as midi_super_arpeggiatorGUI.reajs. It supplies all the graphics for the plugin.

It looks like you just need to drag the bottom of the GUI window down a bit and then you'll see the slider that allows you to set the number of notes you want in your sequence. It defaults to 0. I'm not sure why the window isn't sizing properly, could be a Reaper Mac issue.

To permanently fix it, click on the "Edit.." button in the plugin window and look for the following line :
@gfx 547 495
(you can use CTRL-F and search for @gfx)
It should be around line number 573 of the code. If you make that second number larger (I would suggest about 520-540) and press CTRL-S (to save the change), it should make the window long enough that you won't have to keep dragging it down (you will have to close the plugin window and re-open it to see the change).

As far as the chords, unfortunately that zip file I uploaded is a little misleading. The folder 'MIDI_Super_Arpeggiator' should actually be inside a folder called 'whatsup' which goes in the 'Data' folder.

Hope it works for you. I can't really offer any other support for this plugin as I only did the GUI.

Hi
Argee a lot of thanks to your help
It was not necessary to get into edit
navigated to the bottom of the plugin and found the solution thanks to your advice
see the movie gift included in the zip
About chords,it´s a shame no having the folder `whatsup'
Please if any reaper user has it would be great to share with us uploading it
Best Regards
Mario
