Default Creating MIDI loops that are exactly x measures long

I am posting here to share how I am creating MIDI loops that are exactly x measures long.

First, I record MIDI in the timeline with a little space in front of the area I wish to keep, for the count in. When I hit stop, there is also a little unneeded space at the end as well.

I then loop select the measures I wish to turn into a loop, and shift-S to "split at loop points".

I then right click on the loop to edit a copy of the loop. When the editor comes up, I hit esc.

Finally, I delete the blank spaces from the original recording that fall outside of the loop selection.

I now have a copy of the loop in the timeline that I can click-drag to lengthen or "roll out" the loop without the blank spaces that were in the original recorded item.

This works fine. I'm just wondering if there is a faster way to accomplish the creation of loops that are exactly x measures long, before I post an FR on this topic.

Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving!

Nice workaround! I have tried to find a better way, but no.
This should be able to do with one of the existing shortcuts like the copy loop of selected area of item (seems to work with audio only), or the glue function could be extended to also consolidate a file that has been trimmed down, and not only when there are splits. Anybody else on this?

UPDATE: Justin modified Glue to allow a modified length loop to Glue itself to the new length. That going to get a hotkey on my system if one is not defined already. WooHoo!!

The G should be available, yes? AT least thats where I put it. This feature is really nice for the workflow!

Roner,

On my system G was grouping items, but I have not used that function yet, so I overwrote it....
