Default Can't sent my friend wavs from PC to Mac Reaper

I'm trying to collaborate with a friend who has Reaper on a Mac; I'm on a PC.
He has sent me whole projects with the relevant audio files (wavs) which have worked fine. I've sent him a project - he can see the project, but the files are listed as "offline". He is unable to drag and drop or insert any of them through the menu into the project. It seems to make no difference where the files are on his hard drive. He has other wavs on his computer which he is able to insert, and he has been able to insert an mp3 I sent him. He has also been able to insert other wavs that he already had on his mac into a project.
The only possible irregularity I'm aware of is that I believe his installation of Reaper may reside in his Downloads folder rather than Applications.
He's using Catalina as his OS, I'm on Windows 10.
Any ideas please?

Since originally posting this question, I found I could insert the files I sent to my friend into a Reaper project on an ancient Mac running OSX Version 10.4.11.
Does this suggest that there is something identifying my files as alien when my friend attempts to use them?

Your friend should have his Reaper install in the APPLICATIONS folder.

I have NEVER installed and opened Reaper from the DOWNLOADS folder here

1. Make sure your files are in fact in the same folder as the projects so loop wave files recorded wave files etc need to be in that folder to access them on the other end.

2. Make sure he has his audio device selected in Reaper as this will give this issue as well and the playback wont work either

3. He should just be able to drag those wave files into the project. I dont do any file import thing like that here

The downloads folder on a Mac is protected.

Files in the download folder can't open other files anywhere. Malware protection. Simple, but effective. Stops mainly pdf and word exploits.

Default Thanks people!

Thanks very much for your help - the issue of the programme being located in the Downloads folder sounds like the answer; I'll talk about it to my friend.
