i did a test today..seemed fine quick note runs..even managed to make something funky during the test.

the only things is that if i'm doing a mouse operation while connected to the same usb port it slows the midi latency down.

however i do find that quick cc fader/knob msgs lag a bit with usb midi port. it might be my controller..i'm gonna investigate more thoroughly.

USB hubs were invented by the DAW Anti-Christ, avoid at all times -- not sure if that's how I'm reading your quote above... Give the mouse its own USB port directly off the PC. You might also consider getting a USB -> PS/2 adapter and running your mouse off of the PS/2 mouse port (if it has one), that'll keep the mouse off the USB bus.

it's not in a hub..it's in the same port on the pc..but sharing the same bus.

but yes..i'm not a fan of usb hubs...

strange fact...the m-audio trigger finger doesn't work with new macs and some pc laptops unless it's connected to a usb hub...instead of directly into the computer. very weird.

m-audio has really good customer support. i just wish they made their stuff out of more durable materials.
