Default Mouse almost impossible to see

I don't remember noticing this until a recent update (5.983 I think), but now the mouse cursor is almost impossible to see against the background of the main layout area.

Can you see it? Neither can I.

It's a bit easier here, but still hard when it's smaller over a large area.

I feel like the cursor shape changed in that situation, but how? I've never attempted to change the cursors.

Is that how it appears for others?

Can I change this one cursor to be more visible in this one place? (I don't want to change the background colour).

(I had to photograph the screen because the cursor didn't come out in a screenshot)

Can't help, but I'm also annoyed by this recent change. Surely there must be a workaround?

Dunno if this is what you're looking for but you can change the mouse icon changing the modifier in options.

Options>Mouse modifiers
Context: Track, left drag
Default: Marquee select items and time

This way the mouse will look much better..

Yes, it does make the mouse look much better but it also completely changes the mouse behavior, I don't think that's what the OP was looking for. Isn't there a way to just make the mouse pointer visible without changing the mouse behavior?

Yep, that fixed it, thanks!

Did this change recently though? That's from 9 years ago.

Question remains, why have a cursor that can't be seen by default!

An I-beam doesn't make sense in this context anyway. That's generally used for text editing. This should simply be a standard mouse pointer (arrow pointing up to the left)

anyone find an easy fix for this yet? I'm not very computer literate so all of the fixes I found are difficult for me to implement. I need step-by-step help.
Thanks.

The arrange empty area cursor was changed back to I-beam cursor in v5.99.
Or do you need steps to change it to something else?
