Default Video editor recommendations.

I run a Linux/Ubuntu desktop to run Reaper. The Reaper video editor is less than what I desire. Anyone have any recommendations for Linux friendly video editing software?

(I know this isn’t really Reaper related, so please delete this if not allowed. I just know I’d trust the insight of fellow Reaper users over other random people on the internet. Cheers!)

Blender is pretty easy if you do a few tricks at startup. Excellent tutorials on youtube. Kdenlive is good and also Shotcut i think

I don't do a lot of video editing, but I used Shotcut for a couple little things recently and didn't encounter any problems.

I don't do a huge amount of video editing either, but I have used Shotcut in the past and found it very easy to use. However, I subsequently switched over to REAPER for my very occasional video projects too because it was able to do some things Shotcut couldn't. REAPER's video editor may not be terribly intuitive, but it is pretty powerful and rewarding if you can invest the time into learning how to use it. For example, in REAPER I found it much easier than in Shotcut to more accurately cut video in sync with the audio.

I use Lightworks (Free Version) and it is not only light on resources but quite adequate for common video tasks.

Give it a try!!

Most advanced would be DaVinci Resolve Linux : https://www.tal.org/tutorials/blackm...-resolve-linux

One cool open source would be KdenLive.

In all honesty, I wouldn't It's not because I don't like this forum but we REAPER users don't necessarily have any better answers than the rest of the internet. Don't let your emotions get in the way of thorough research

Where on the internet you'd find answer that Reaper is best for video editing?

Hehe. I mean, it's good for small tasks but, yes, you are correct...only on the REAPER forum would it rank as number 1 video software in the universe. I shouldn't be surprised given that REAPER rarely (ever?) even makes it as the internet's number one DAW.

Davinci free version doesbt open H264 files on linux.
You have to buy the studio version for that and GPU acceleration support.

I would give shotcut a try. https://www.shotcut.org/

my $.02, if you're using a heavyweight program like resolve, you probably don't want to be working with h264 files directly anyway.
