Default Bug/Glitch: Clean Current Project Directory... doesn't clean the subfolders

I just noticed.

On Preferences > Audio > Recording, the field Filename format for recorded files

Code:
$folders\$track\$track-$project-$author-$tracknumber-$year2$month$day_$hour$minute
When I remove items containing audio files not used through
Files > Clean Current Project Directory it doesn't remove the subfolders not even the content of them

Not only: the opening window doesn't report even the existence of subfolders, nor the contained files.

Here below the animated GIF that shows what's occurring.

Now I have to think to several projects that I confidently archived as cleaned, but they got tons of garbage inside.

I hope into the 6.57 ...

No one noticed this before?

I suppose that Reaper should clean all the sub-dirs, since they can be created, it must check them for presence of unused audio file into the project

Or the result is to get several leftovers

I think it is by design...

Well but giving the possibility to crate sub-dirs it means also that when you go to delete files not used into the project, the subdirs should be also checked. Or this is a design flaw ...

FWIW I often store things in sub-folders and appreciate they are not affected by a clean up.

Well if they add it as option into the Options Window it will make you and I happy. I don't like to keep garbage but I love to be organized in my folders, while you have a different workflow... both can be satisfied

As far as I can tell, REAPER doesn’t support sub folders in the project media directory. It only does a single flat directory. This is easy to confirm by selecting any of your audio files and choosing “move to project directory”.

So what you’ve done to record files to a subdir is clever… but I suspect would be considered “unsupported.”

Which is too bad, because obviously subdirs are super useful!!

Up for Devs?

There are 2 possible solutions:
- to impede to create subfolders into Media (which is a fall back to 70s)
- to clean subfolders

the third option: to leave things as they are: it's a bug.

In 2 years indeed: nothing ... looks like the 7.xx theme ...
