Default I can't delete active track

He folks,

I recorded several takes of a guitar intro and now I can't delete the take on top (the first take I recorded). I can delete all other takes. And Reaper even tells me that it deleted this take in the action list, but it just doesn't. The take I wanna delete still stays in the project after I said "Take -> Delete active take".

Is this a bug or did I do something wrong?

Any ideas are very welcome!
Thanks, Torsten

Welcome to the Reaper Forums!

Can you post a screenshot of the Item/Takes?

Hi Solger, thanks for getting back on this one.

I've made five screenshots. The size of uploads here is limited to 800x600 and 64 Kb so I've uploaded them with a more useful resolution to my blog: http://torstentorsten.de/5-reaper-screenshots/

I'd be happy if you could take a look at them.

Thanks again!
Torsten

Thanks for the screenshots.

I did a quick test on Windows and Linux (both with Reaper 6.05) and it works fine here (I also tried it with different combinations of Options > Take lane behavior).
So I looks like it might be a bug.

As a side note: the Bug Reports section can be found here: https://forum.cockos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22

Just for testing purposes, maybe try if this makes any difference:
  1. Save a copy of the project with a new name
  2. Keep only a single Item (for instance, the one selected in your screenshot containing 7 Takes) and remove all the other Items from the project copy (saved in step 1)
  3. See if using 'Take -> Delete active take' has still the same behavior

Have the same problem. I have several parts with multiple takes. In only one of them I have the problem: I can not delete the first take. All the other can be deleted.

It does happen with 6.14 and 6.15 (WIN7, i7-2700K@3,5GHz, 8GB RAM). Did not check older version yet.

I tried the recommendations from solger, but no difference.

If I delete all the other takes untill only the first one is left, then it works with 'delete take'.

Any Ideas?

I found a work around:

I use the action:
SWS/S&M: Delete active take and source file (prombt, no undo)

The other actions with a 'Delete active take' part, do not work (or i did not get it)....

BUT after that the 'new' first take can also not be deleted with the original command 'delete active take'. And so on...

Just opened a Bug Report:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread....48#post2356748

Some more investigation:
I choose
Options->Take lane behaviour->Display empty take lanes
and find a lot of empty takes.
With that option on, i could delete any take i want with 'delete active take'
After that I switch back to not display empty take lanes and start the action:
Item: Remove all empty take lanes
and now it also works with deleting the first take
