Default Smart databases in Media Explorer

Right now we have Smart Folders for plugins with custom filters that work great, but I think it would be really useful to have something similar in the Media Explorer.

So say you wanted to create a 'Snare' database, then you would just add "snare" in to the filter box and any added path(s) would adhere to that filter and only show files with "snare" in the name. This would make it really fast and easy to organize databases. Just add your whole sample folder as the path, add the relevant filters, done.

I made a quick mockup of what it could look like:

Let me know what you guys think.

I was planning to make the same request and came across this post.

It would be great if we had smart databases in Reaper. I am a sound designer and I am using Reaper's Media Explorer as a main sound library organizer for over 100.000 files. When I add new folders to the main database, I have to update over 100 filtered databases by hand. It would be great if we have auto filtered and updatedable databases.

Thanks for amazing software!

I would love to see this feature as well, is there any way this could be, say, done with an extension?

Yeah, these filters should be everywhere.

Bumping this now when the Media Explorer is getting some attention.

Databases are nice but they require you to manually add folders and update them. Smart databases would make life much easier.

What do you mean by "filtered database?" Is there a way to exclude certain file types or paths from a database?

No, I've meant filtered list of files by searched words or combinations. For example, I search "impact NOT hit" in my main database and then I create new database from the filtered result.
