Default How to reduce reaper startup time

Reaper takes around 20 to 25 seconds for loading VSTs after each restart of my system. But once it is opened and it will take only 4-5 seconds to initialize. But again if I restart my system and open again it comes to 20-25 seconds time.

Does reaper scan VST on every startup ? Can we tweak reaper not to scan vsts on every restart (even if it is first load once system restart).

Thanks in Advance!

Euhm, you open reaper, and it opens the project you are working on, or a blank new project, or a template where you have vst in?

Reaper won't scan anything if opening a blank project if I'm not mistaken. If it opens a project with vst's in them, it is only logical reaper loads those as well, not? Otherwise you need to do that manually.

So you mean that the first time you open reaper from a system restart it takes a long time, but subsequent starts are quicker?

Welcome to the Reaper Forums!

By default, the Preferences > General: Open project(s) on startup behavior is set to Last active project.
And a default project template file (used for new projects) can optionally be set under General > Project.

So, as Starpainter already mentioned: if one of them (last active project or default project template) is loaded at launch and includes any (vst) plugins, these plugins need to be scanned/loaded.

Or it might also be related to a combination of the things mentioned in this thread (post #6 and #8): https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=207787

I freeze all the tracks are I am not actively using. That way when Reaper starts it doesn't have any VSTs to load.
