Default Thonex Theme (regular and Retina DPI) -- Sharing my theme

Hi gang,

As I have been stumbling my way through working on my version of a theme, some of you have asked if I would share it when done. Well... just like a mix... it's never done... just abandoned So enjoy.

This is a theme based on the Reaper V6 Default theme with a few different knobs and faders and colors and whatnot. I quite liked the default theme with it's tweak-ability and wanted to make sure that whatever I did was adjustable using the Theme adjuster.

Keep in mind these are solely things I wanted and are not in any way taking away from the original default V6 version. Everyone has their own preferences, so these just happened to be mine (for the time being )

What is different about this theme and the default V6?

• Different Routing graphics for MCP and TCP while allowing the track color to come through.
• Narrow TCP default track height (for lots of tracks per screen)
• Different volume, pan and width knobs.
• Distinction between pan and width.
• Visual indicator showing me the width was reversed (width knob changes to red).
• Narrower Mixer tracks.
• Different colored faders (blue, green, purple, yellow, orange, red).
• Smaller faders.
• Send indicators (knob and background meter) with more of a glowing vibe (green).
• FX slots with a colored background and glowing text (blue)
• A darker more subdued color palette.
• Regular and retina dpi graphics.

Thonex Theme with colored faders and MCP A (colored) and TCP A (knobs)
(these were retina screen captures that I shrunk to 50% because they were huge)

Thonex Theme with Narrower faders in the MCP
(what I mainly use for MIDI when needed or when I want to see a bunch of tracks. Note the yellow MIDI signal on the smaller tracks and red reversed width on track 23 of the MCP)

Thonex Color Palette using ReaNoir with my own preset of 24 colors

If you are not familiar with the awesome script ReaNoir by amagalma (with special thanks to: Spacemen Tree, spk77, X-Raym, cfillion, Lokasenna and Gianfini) you need to check it out NOW.

To use my colors, I have created a ReaNoir palette preset.

How to install the Thonex Theme:

1) Get the theme here and unzip it.

2) You should have the following contents in your Thonex Theme assets folder:

3) Put the Thonex.ReaperThemezip file here: your DAW > Reaper folder > ColorThemes > Thonex.ReaperThemezip

4) Put the Thonex_theme_adjuster.lua file here: your DAW > Reaper folder > Scripts > Cockos > Thonex_theme_adjuster.lua

5) Put the Thonex_Colors (ReaNoire).txt file here: your DAW > Reaper folder > Scripts > ReaTeam Scripts > Various > ReaNoir > Thonex_Colors (ReaNoire).txt

Let me know if you have issues or comments. I may (or may not) be able to get to them. The biggest factors are if I know how to fix it (I'm a first-time-Reaper-themer). For feature requests, it will depend on whether it will be useful for me. Also, I have quite a production workload... so I won't be able to focus on this too much. It's more of just a fun project for me.

To the theming community... feel free to use my assets so long as it is for free use.

I hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

Andrew K

I LITERALLY deleted all of my other themes after downloading this one. It is SO easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. The ability to make the mixer faders and insert chains a reasonable size on my widescreen monitor is fabulous. I can finally fit all my custom buttons in such a pleasing way the other 20 themes I tried couldn't. Thank you!

Hey, one question. I set my mixer faders to 200% view as per your theme. But when I create a new track, it scales that back to 100%, and I have to manually adjust the size back to 200. Do you know of any way to have it default to 200%? Thanks.

I'm using it all the time and really like it, thanks again for sharing it

One minor suggestion, the separation line between the mixer and the tracks would be easier to spot it color , especially when you resize the mixer on one screen

I like it! I didn't know about this.
I like specially the pan knobs... which shows much better the pan position. The default ones, the line is very thin. Yours is much better. And also you fixed some of the transparency issues. Very well done.

Ok. I think the best way to tackle this would be for you to open the script:
Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window
And the choose the very first option: Main window/transport background

... and adjust to taste.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
