Record Internally between Reaper & Soundforge on same PC?
I use Reaper 3.73 and have Soundforge on the same PC
I have an Edirol USB Audio interface as a soundcard on this PC Laptop, (to speakers etc) but wondered if I could run and 'record' internal sequences (one track at a time) from Reaper sequencing a VSTi and me manually tweaking knobs, and it recording as a 2 track file to Soundforge?
I have seen a few people do this, and also Nathan Fake does the same thing here (with Cubase and Cool Edit) but on the same PC
Its 2.00mins in on this video

I would just like to record and edit things live as they are running to my editor (like 'live" takes of VST's running) then after editing and effecting them, import them back into Reaper??

I would think that this should be possible with ReaRoute. I don't have Sound Forge but I've done this sort of thing with Reaper and Sonar.
There's some info about how to set this up near the end of the User Guide, if that helps ...

Great thanks - Rearoute sounds good, although i've never used this..
Can the manual be viewed online? I dont really want to print it all out, although I do use the book "Reaper Power" and there maybe something in there?
Lastly out of interest, can the Mac Version use Rearoute between programs??

This maybe a stupid question but where is Rearoute?
I thought it was a plug in, but realise its an audio output.
I go into Preferences > Audio but it isnt seen there?
I've just got :
WDM Kernel Streaming
Directsound
WaveOut
ASIO
Dummy Audio
No option for ASIO / Rearoute?
I have just installed latest Reaper 3.73 thinking it may re-install with new version?
Once I find it, does Soundforge (as thats ASIO too) also see Rearoute to 'record from'?

Rearoute works with ASIO.
You will see the Reroute inputs and outputs when you select them on a track. It should be installed already (though I think it is optional, so if you don't have it, check the install options on the installer).
So, for example, if you select Rearoute 1 and 2 as outputs in one programme and the same channels as inputs in another, you have a "pipe" running between the two pieces of software.
Mind you, I also think you could simply Record Output in Reaper and accomplish the same things without using Soundforge at all.

Ok great, but I can't seem to see it on the PC version 3.73?
Is there a special place to install Rearoute?
And secondly as I use a Mac too, is Rearoute available for Mac?

Finally got this working on an old PC
For anyone else having trouble, basically on the install you have to "expand" one of the trees on install and tick 'Rearoute"
This then installs the Rearoute driver.
Works a treat!!!! Brilliant as always, recording to SF (ASIO Client) with no problems!
My only 'slight hitch" is that selecting Rearoute in SF, records fine from Reaper Master internally to SF BUT I can't play back??
With Rearoute, SF has : Default Playback Device > ReaRoute Client =>Reaper1/Reaper2
I don't suppose there is a way to monitor what i just recorded in SF, with say output to my USB Soundcard, but recording input to Rearoute?
That would be great?
But apart from that its just what I was looking for?
