Screensets - true maximized mixer window
I've read several topics related to this one and nothing really covered what I want to achieve.
I've got two screens and want the mixer on the second one in a true fully maximized window. This cannot be achieved by docking the mixer and floating the dock - the floating dock window can only be resized, but not maximized.
However, if the mixer is undocked I can maximize its window. I want that to be the second Screenset, so i press Shift+F8. I press F7 (untouched standard screenset) and go back by pressing F8: the mixer window is NOT maximized ...
How can I save the maximized mixer window as screenset?

That appears to be one of the small weaknesses at the moment.
I've tried to do the same thing, but screensets do not appear to restore the maximized state of a 'tool-less' window, which is what the mixer window and most other views are, except the main program window that is.
There is a preference to make views full window with minimized, maximize and close controls, but that doesn't help either.(tested on 4.0rc1 x86)
We'll have to chalk that up to a design flaw, or something the devs have yet to figure out about Windows perhaps.
You're welcome to try this for yourself. Open the "preferences / General / Advanced UI/system tweaks".
We'll be able to enter that as an official bug in the tracker, once 4.0 is released.

Tried the tip with the large tool-less window frame on the 4.0rc1 x64 today, doesn't fix that. Recalling the screenset (freshly saved it with the maximized mixer window, of course) just opened up the mixer window, this time with a standard Windows 7 window frame.
So, we should add that bug to the tracker, soon!

still exists in rc3
It looks like this, when I save the screenset via Shift+F8:

When recalling the screenset by Pressing F7, then pressing F8, it looks like this:

If you have the mixer in the docker on the other screen, you can resize the docker manually to take up the entire screen, and save this as a screen-set. However, to get this to be restored (when hitting F7, F8 whatever) you need to have also the routing matrix open in the docker!
Strange, but it works... at least for me...

When resizing the window, Reaper saves those screensets correctly, even if the mixer is undocked. However, I'm talking about <b>maximizing</b> and saving rather than resizing and saving.
There is no way to maximize the docker window (if unattached from the main window, of course), all you can do with it is resizing.
The mixer (if undocked) can be maximized. But saving it as screenset won't restore it's maximized state.
From what you're writing it sounds like you've manually resized the docker window, but not maximized, haven't you?

Yes, manually resized, as I wrote. Maximizing or manually dragging it out to fill the screen is the same for me, I get the mixer in the docker full screen...
But the screen set doesn't restore the size correctly unless I also have the the routing matrix docked.

You're right, resizing is quite the same concerning functionality. But it's bugging me, because a maximized window has no border frames and the top border is smaller compared to a resized window.
What I've found out so far is, that closing reaper with the mixer window maximized and opening it again, the mixer window keeps maximized.
That makes me think it's just a small bug that'd be very easy to fix. What's the best way to let the devs know about this?
Btw, Screen sets also restore the size correctly, when the mixer is undocked.

I voted too... but I think this is really a bigger issue than just the mixer. The docker, should also be maximizable. Currently I manually drag it out to fit the screen, which works but is a workaround.

You're absolutely right! The mixer window is just an example. Of course, the docker window (and possibly every window) should be maximizable (for whatever reason) and that state should be saved within screen sets.
Manually resizing takes too much time, especially if you are used to double-click a window's title bar.
As this bug has turned out not to be pre-release related, may I open another thread in the bug area so more people can vote for it?

Bug or not... that can be debated, but anyway it is useful.
Either open another thread in the feature request forum, or maybe ask the mods to move this thread...

Nice...I just upgraded my LX5 to Windows 7 64 bit last week. I also maxed out the RAM to 16 gigs and i'm loving the performance boost.

I was very surprised when I found out that I can't maximize the docker, it's really annoying. I have two screens and I would like to have the docker occupy the other one, resizing sucks. Googled and found this thread, seems to be an old issue. Could this please be fixed?

Multi screen support is something of a joke, have to assume that the devs just use a single big screen (Get used to it, they wont sort it)
The second screen in reaper is something of a retard, no way to dock anything on the second screen and so on, annoying but REAPER (Accept it, it will be like it forever haha)

I just double click the top of the mixer window and it maximizes just fine. Or in Win7 drag it to the top of the screen and it will auto-snap to maximized. Ruh oh, I see its via screen set.. oops.

double clicking most windows' title bars maximizes the window. this is the case for windows explorer, browsers, etc. most everything.
the title bar is this, of course
in REAPER, double clicking the title bar of many, many windows does nothing, with little logic.
double click FX chain window, midi editor: window maximizes. this is the desired behavior for everything.
double click media browser, item properties, floating dock: nothing.

Has this bug been adressed already? I can't seem to be able to maximise my mixer window on the 2nd screen and recall the saves screenset.

I got this lua script to work on my system. My mixer is in a floating dock window entitled "Mixer (docked)". You'd need js_ReascriptAPI downloadable on reapack.
Tweak the monitor size and position in the script - might be a workaround?
Code:
Mixer = reaper.JS_Window_FindTop( 'Mixer (docked)', 1 )
retval, style = reaper.JS_Window_SetStyle( Mixer, 'SYSMENU' )
reaper.JS_Window_Resize( Mixer, 1920, 1080 )
reaper.JS_Window_Move( Mixer, 0, 0 )

Nice one, might try it out, thanks!
But seriously, this hasn't been fixed since it got reported 9 years ago? Wow... I wonder how few people use the mixer in full screen then...

I'm assuming there's still no movement here? It's pretty irritating!
Edit: OK, there's a 99% good enough workaround: just manually stretch the Mixer out manually so that it looks maximised but actually isn't - then it'll save/recall just fine.
(In fact, I just stretched my floating mixer aaaaaall the way across two monitors and saved that as a screenset. 24 big, chunky channel strips in view at a time.)
