64 or 32
I just got my new computer (Acer-Win10-2408 with MOTU 424) set up and everything loaded in - is there any great advantage to running the x64 version of Reaper instead of the x32 version? The only reason I'm asking is because there are a number of older DX plug-ins that are available in the x32 but not in the x64. And of course vice-versa on a few VST's--but only a few are unavailable in the x32 version.
Thanks - I've been fully Reaper-addicted for 1 1/2 years, and it's awesome.

I've been all 64-bit for what feels like, and may be, a decade already. There's more memory that applications can use, but 32-bit support is being dropped more and more regularly at this point. 64-bit is the standard. Render any old projects that use 32-bit only plugins to audio, or render stems, etc. and move on. It's long passed time.

Isn’t it completely up to your operating system? Like does 32 bit reaper even work in 64 bit windows? I know it doesn’t work the other way.

x86 program can't use more than 4 gb (AFAIR) ram. Critical for large samplers etc. And most relative new software is x64.

x64 Reaper have a bridge for old x86 plugins. All my old plugins works fine (tested on win7 and macos 10.7).
PS Old NI B4 vst plugin crush x86 reaper on macos, but works through the bridge on x64 reaper.

Doesn't the 32 bit VST bridge work for those older plugs? I still run a few 32 bit plugins. Are all the bundled Reaper plugs 64 bit?
In any event, I can't imagine any reason to install Reaper 32 on a 64 bit operating system (if that's even possible) but maybe I'm forgetting something.

Bridging works for VSTs. I haven’t done it much, but I’ve never had a problem. I think the OP issue is that it doesn’t work for DX plugins. That was a clunky, wonky way of doing things to begin with. I sort of understand why Cakewalk chose to follow the Windows standard rather than Steinberg’s, but that fight was lost before it even started.

Using ancient plugs and being too lazy to move on to newer ones, and disliking bridging. 32 bit Reaper runs perfectly fine on 64 bit Windows, but yeah don't do it, don't be like me
