Default Track layout with just the Track Name

It it possible to modify the Track layout in a way that the header just shows the Track Name as large and as long as possible, but no controls. I only need this and the waveform for a kind of media player purpose.

You've probably already done this, but maybe try the different track layouts with just that track selected; maybe there'll be one in there that woild be 'close enough'.

All standard layout provide by far too few room for the track name unless you set the height of the track big enough to allow for two lines of widgets, which I don't want, as I want to show many tracks at once. I did not fined a way to delete the single widgets .

You can just make a new layout that only sets up the label and no other elements. Or take one of the existing layouts and remove all the other lines. WALTER's a bit confusing at first, but doesn't take long to figure out the basics. This is all done by editing the rtconfig file for the theme.

I guessed something like this.

But who is WALTER ?

I guess I should find out which is the file for the current (standard default) theme, copy same and modify the new one using a text editor ?

Then select the new one as active ?

And find some documentation on what the text means ?

Man you've been here a long time to not have met WALTER yet...
https://www.reaper.fm/sdk/walter/walter.php

rtconfig is in your theme folder, which is in the reaper resources/colorthemes folder. It could also be a compressed theme file.

After doing tons of JSFXes I even did my first multi-line Reascript just yesterday

I.e. this is the first time I have any interest in modifying the standard (to me overall perfectly suitable) GUI layout and behavior of Reaper's.

"Default_4.0.ReaperThemeZip" and "Default_5.0.ReaperThemeZip" are both in the c:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\InstallData\ColorThemes\ and in the "\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\ColorThemes" folder. But no "rtconfig". Obviously both are compressed.

The link you showed says:

1. In a theme's rtconfig.txt, specifying layout information specific to the theme (for more information on this, see XXX)
2. In REAPER's Plugins/default_rules.txt, which is used when a theme does not define any WALTER in its rtconfig.txt (such as classic 3.x and 2.x themes)

But what is XXX ?

There is no "Default_rules.txt" in "c:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\Plugins" nor in "\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\UserPlugins".

Maybe I need to first create a new rtconfig.txt file. Is there any template for this to play with ?

Thanks for your help !
-Michael

Well your theme will still use the zipped one unless you point it to the new theme resource path (unzipped folder) in the theme tweaker window.

But after that, you make your edits, save the file and you can use ctrl+alt+pgup/down to switch to another theme and back in order to see any changes.

Make a new layout something like:

Code:
Layout "Blank"
set tcp.label [input your desired size and location coordinates]
EndLayout
