Does anyone use ableton live that can help me with this problem?

I'm trying to record a loop that ends after a certain amount of beats or bars AUTOMATICALLY!

can't find anything anywhere.

Global Quantization maybe? This will make it so your recordings start/stop at the desired beat or measure. The default value is 1 bar, but you can make it longer too.

thanks but my recordings don't stop after 1 beat they just keep going

This works -
double click on a clip slot and set length with the cursor. arm the track and start recording.
So you make a whole bunch of empty clips with desired length
