Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
Hi!
Here's my attempt to make Reaper more pleasing for the eye.
At first I started to make everything from scratch, but when I saw that combining different themes with my own produced quite nice results, my motivation to do it all myself quickly vanished
Backgrounds and rec.arm is entirely my own, other is taken and modified from vixieplain105, lf_reapercussion_themepack and Stumn201.
So thanks to the authors of these themes valenzia, limeflavour and max.
There's still a lot to do (matching all the colors, so that there wouldn't be many different reds, etc), but already it's usable.

Hey, Carbon
Weird day! I sent you an email earlier about the website gtroblq
nice looking theme, too, I'll download it as soon as you finalize it.
I didn't know you were here on the Reaper forum.

Thanks to all!
But that just shows, how little tweaks and different combinations produce a completely different results.
to ieso:
Yes, weird indeed.
Thanks for the unexpected invitation!
I guess finally the word is starting to spread.

Haven't got time to spare for skinning lately.
Been making music and working...
I could just put it up for download as is.
It's usable for me at least.

very smooth.
My mixes still look messy because I colour the tracks into categories (drums, strings, guitars...). I think there should just be a coloured bit of the track instead of the whole thing, this would look better IMHO. Would probably have to talk to Justin about that.
One thing I don't get with most skins, irrelevant of how brilliant they are. When I stretch out the left track panel to see all the buttons the top left corner big buttons always look crap because they are stretched and blurry. Why don't skinners make higher res buttons that shrink instead of the normal low res ones that grow.
I'm not sure if you get my drift, anyway it's a little niggle I have had with most skins.
A really nice, very usable look. The brushed aluminium looks great.
Thanks,
drillbit

True - I guess its not noticed because thze skinnmakers don't expand the TCP to full size.
White Tie's default theme doesn't have that problem.
Cheers

Actually, it's like choosing between two evils. When you make the toolbar icons you have to decide if you want them to look sharp and clear when they're scaled up respectively down, on one or two rows (unfortunately, it's not possible to "fix" the sizes). I think most of the toolbars (themes) are designed to look best when scaled down (two rows), whereas others are designed to look better when stretched up.
Minimize/maximize the track panel all the way down/up, then switch between themes, let's say Default_WT and Max's Stumn201, and you'll see what I mean. (Funny thing, though, is that Stumn201 looks good either way.)

I think you can set that in the preferences - to make the whole track coloured, or just the block behind the text.
Sure, it would be better if you could specify which part of the track should be coloured.

Compact View - The big picture
Thanks guys, your right I can just make the labels on the tracks coloured. Now I can see the folder tracks easier too. Everything now looks so much sweeter.
I'm mixing heaps of strings tracks (might have mentioned it) and I am having problems getting a massive overview or the big picture. Then I discovered the experimental view settings (Prefs/General/AdvancedUI/ScaleUI). I tweaked the view to 80% (0.8). I can now shrink the track view mixer to the smallest setting and get a fuller mixer view. It's not pretty but it works.
Here is a crop of my main screen (full is 1680x1050).Flickr doesn't let me upload anything larger than 1024x768, but thats for another forum.
Here is a link to the my compact GUI.

EDIT: replaced the full image with a link as it seemed a tad rude to show another theme on someone's great theme post.

THANKS so much for posting the link, Carbon! This is a very nice layout.
Right now, I am torn between this one and Vixie Plain. These are my favorites right now.
I appreciate your work on this my man!
