Default Recording Echo Issue

I'm new to Reaper and have encountered an issue of which I've seen no one else report. Anything I either record via microphone, or upload directly into Reaper as an audio file, plays back in duplicate. The duplicate recordings are staggered by nearly a full second, resulting in a garbled playback. Two simultaneous audio playbacks that are way out of sync.

This does not appear to be a latency issue, as no recommended latency remedies seem to bring the two source into synchronization. Even speaking into the live microphone and listening to the result in my monitor speakers results in a distinct delay between speaking and the sound released through the speakers.

Does anyone know what causes this issue and what settings might resolve it? I really hope to salvage this purchase of Reaper.

What audio device/interface are you using?

and can you rule out that you have a delay loaded somewhere, maybe in the monitor FX chain?

Yea the Project Bay will show you all the fx in the project if you're not sure...

Could also be something with the direct monitoring of the Scarlett mixer.

Default Recording Echo Issue

I believe I have found the culprit. I opened the View Monitoring Fx window and saw a ReaDelay function enabled. I disabled it and subsequent recordings are now devoid of echo. Thanks so much for steering me into that area.

Well done - sort of begs the question why you would have a delay plugin in your monitoring fx?
