Default Regarding Waves 11 discussion

Found this thread interesting and I think reassuring as I have been concerned about what happens to Waves plugins over time (it seems they work without need to update). Regarding the future when my ssd stops working properly, is it a viable option to put all the Waves stuff on memory stick and simply use that way on the new computer? I ask because I was quoted over $800 to go from V9 to V10 (despite a supposed cap of 200!) and my understanding is that if you change to a new computer you have to update (?)

Nope. Deactivate the license on the old computer/drive and reactivate it on the new computer/drive.

The plugins only need to find that license. For that reason my licenses are on a usb stick that is used for nothing else.

You get one free reactivation per year AFAIK with Waves. That's a good one in case your drive holding license files breaks for example.

Hah Just reminded me how many years old MY waves USB stick is. Maybe I should look at buying another one... Not sure anyone still makes 4gb sticks though....

I keep the Offline packages with the licenses on the stick. 32Gb sticks cost 10€ these days.

Sandisk Cruzer are amongst my favorites because they‘re so small and have a really tiny chance of falling out or being pulled out accidentally.

Thanks for replies. Airon I'm not sure what you were saying "nope" to, could you say a bit more please? Cheers
