Checkboxes in the FX list. This was a ton of work, and you can't even click them yet.

I'm amazed.
I get the impression the mac version is being programmed from scratch,- aren't there clever gizmos around these days which'll port a windows program to mac?
Kind regards

Wow, checkboxes a lot of work on the Mac...?? I have to wonder HOW low-level stuff Apple expects the programmers to do themselves...I dunno, maybe it's as bad on Windows for "real" programmers, I have only really used Delphi and it has a very convenient model for creating the typical Windows GUI-stuffs...
BTW Justin, are you using Carbon or Cocoa for Reaper on OS-X and any particular reasons for using either?

Checkboxes themselves are easy.. writing a generic "status icon" mode for our listview emulation was a bit of work.. mostly figuring out how the NSTableView uses NSCell...
I'm not aware of any easy (and lightweight) win32->OSX porting solutions.. Anything I've missed?
We're using Cocoa but of course you end up using Carbon for lots of things too..

I don't know of any good "lightweight" cross-platform GUIs. wxWidgets (not perfect on OSX), Qt and Gtk are the bigger names.

What SWELL is is a win32->OSX porting library, that lets you use win32 APIs to build windows and controls the same way you would on Windows, except instead of Windows controls, it uses their native OS X counterparts. Which appears to be unique.

Oh, BTW, great that the OS-X port is going nice enough... No item properties dialog yet, I think? I'd like to show off that for Mac people soon!

control surface support?
transferring functionality from PC to Mac seems tricky, i can't believe the strides the mac side has taken lately... hoping for control surface support too. I have an FW-1884 and it has a serious unresolved firewire synch issue on all of the PC's i used it with. I've used PC's for about twenty years, until I recently moved over to an imac, and no more problems... seriously
I tech volunteer at my local university radio station, they've got a mini mac, and Reaper would blow away Garage bland, that they use now. Any educational discounts avail on the commercial license i wonder?
My new year's resolution is to; start a studio or get a real job?!, get a license for Reaper, and get the radio station, studio, and everyone I know onto this program... the ease of workflow blows every other DAW away.
P.s. I've heard that Santa likes milk and cookies, but...
what does the Reaper like? whitening strips and a sanding stone?
maybe just some new licences..
happy festive season (trying not to offend)
