Poll: What theme do you use?
For quite a time there is "Reaper Theme 6", which
introduces a newer, more modern, more colourful and
darker look for Reaper.
But not everyone is so delighted about the new look, and
still several user stick to the old "Theme 5".
Tell us what theme you use and why!
The reason to employ a specific theme is of course a
matter of taste. But it can also be a matter of usability
and ergonomy. For instance it can be that a theme
looks quite good, but lacks a good assignment of knobs
or a good apportionment of the available space on the
screen. So there is a multitude of reasons for choosing
a specific theme.

reaborn youn mod, but it's kinda old and a little broken on newer reaper versions so I'm looking for a replacement or modifying the default theme, which I like overall but just a few changes I like to see:
1. inconsistent alignments of knobs and faders. I like everything to be aligned, folder tracks shouldn't indent other controls, causing everything to misaligned. I know the default theme now has an option for lining things up, which is great, but it's still a pain it's not there by default. it's also annoying that meters on the TCP are sometime vertical, sometimes horizontal, all different sizes. just keep them all aligned so at-a-glance viewing makes it obvious how they all relate to each other.
2. single color meters with no clear delineation of levels. when recording especially, I like to see clear transition at levels like -12, -18, none of this gradient shit, just solid colors that go from green at the low end, then jump to yellow, orange and red at certain points. I can't very well read the text markings in most cases, and again, when recording you aren't that close to the screen anyways
3. emphasis on mixer panel more than TCP/arrangement. I don't use it as it seems redundant. a good full feature TCP is fine. I don't care for faders and like to use external hardware when possible, otherwise a nice compact consistent design is all I want. don't need a phase button
4. almost no love for midi editor. it's the most frustrating part of reaper, so extra attention to colors here would be nice.

I’m a fan of the layout of Reaper V4. Fusion was my go to until recently. Now I use a theme inspired by FL studio.

I used Hydra since it came out. With REAPER 6 it has some compatibility issues and I cannot use it anymore. The contrast, colors, buttons, sliders etc were perfect for me.
Now I'm using ClearView which I'm glad it came out. It is dark and the contrast is good.
Waiting for some other themes to come out.
Looking at you Mordi!

I've made a few custom changes to V6; knob stacks for TCP/MCP volume and pan, new meters, transport, TCP and MCP backgrounds tweaked a little, colors on the extmixer for active/bypass/offline make more sense ot me, and much prefer Futura font pretty much everywhere except for the transport status and timeline where I use PT Mono. I still want to rework the transport layout but that'll be a project for another time.
To my eyes, V6 is much satisfying out of the box than V5 was, though I would rate both as equally useable. Some absolutely fabulous work done on other themes but none of stayed installed for very long.

Have been using REABORN 2 by Nick Mortiz for years now...clean, tidy, easy on the eye and great to use.
Have tried running other themes, but always find myself going back to REABORN 2!

I use my own theme, compiled on the basis of Paulie. I worked in Sonar for a long time, so I was looking for something similar. The code is simplified, I think it is version 5 or lower. I made several attempts to switch to other themes, but always returned to my own.

I screwed up my vote 'cause I hadn't had my coffee yet. After trying everything I came across, including the amazing examples of beautiful hardware, and going back to the 5 and then 6 modified defaults for a while, I got a tip on another board to try Hydrogenous by Lamda, which hasn't been updated in good ages, and haven't left it. It's one of the most productive and straight forward I've found that is also good on the eyes.

I've been using a colour modified version of the Version 4 default for a long time now. I find it's one of the compact, clear and lean themes.

it should be noted that this thread will probably overwhelmingly get folks interested in custom themes, and in reality, 99% of reaper users just stick with the default theme and many of those never even check in on the forums. The default themes have all been very competent

V6 theme modified using some images that WhiteTie supplied (replacing a few elements), plus changing some arrange/MIDI editor colors (using the old "theme tweaker" action). My favorite theme yet.

Been using a modded version of Albert's fine Pro Tools X theme for over a year. Love his track inspector although it doesn't have the functionality of Heda's inspector. One major change I made was to use Blankfile's transport layout for his Hydra theme in Alberts theme. It was tricky and took some work to get things to match, but I'm thrilled with the way Reaper looks for me.

Imperial!
Why? Well, I have two big monitors and the mixer in one of them. Love the looks of the theme, and I find that I work faster in Imperial than in any other theme I have tried.

WT/Lerian's "Default Analog 1.8"?
There's many Themes I like and find Amazing or very Impressive,
but boy what can I do.. I always come back to the good old Analog!

I'm using Smooth6 or iLogic V3. Both with tiny customizations like icons, a color here or there, maybe an extra layout I whipped up in RTConfig...stuff like that. Why? I just find both more aesthetically pleasing and more in line with my own sensibilities/preferences about what makes an attractive and functional theme.

I'm still using the modified v5 theme that I've cobbled together over the years.
It has a pretty flat aesthetic (which I quite like). I've taken images for various buttons from other themes.
What's made it irreplaceable for me thus far is that I can view around 74 tracks at a time in the arrange view while retaining label and button visibility in the TCP. I run at 2560x1440.
I've had trouble finding any other themes that allow that kind of thing for higher track count sessions.

+ 1 for REABORN 2
I've been tempted by the themes from LCS (Dude they look SO GOOD), but keep coming back to REABORN 2.
I'm sure Lucas is gonna snare me one of these days. :-)

I use Hydra with Reaper 6 and haven't encountered any problems in MacOS. I've done a few of my own tweaks, but nothing drastic.

Thanks everyone for telling us. The current (02-25-2020)
results are:
1 -- theme 6: --> 10 user (11 %)
2 -- theme 6 mod.: --> 19 user (21 %)
3 -- theme 5: --> 1 user (1 %)
4 -- theme 5 mod.: --> 14 user (15 %)
5 -- different theme : --> 47 user (52 %)
user total: 91 (100 %)
So we can say that most of the reaper users here in this
forum part employed their own, more individual theme.
Apart from that most users take a modified theme 6. But still
there are 16 % which stick to theme 5 or a modification of
theme 5.
It surprised me that only 12% work with pure default-
themes. Unfortunately of course, this poll is not
representative:

Commala 2016.
Most functional theme for me, with by far the best fonts. Thought the V6 update will mess with it but it actually made it look even better.
Would be ace if @Commala updates it to implement the V6 colors, though i'm more than happy if he decides not to.

I think that if there weren't so many alternatives available here and on the Stash, most users would just be content with the default theme. When I first started with Reaper in 2017 I will admit that the UI was very off-putting to me, but a few weeks in I discovered that there were multiple themes available to use and that got me even more into the program.

Or, if a user associates the looks and the default settings with the program itself such a user would go elsewhere, would continue searching for an appropriate sequencer ("DAW").
