Default This MUST be possible- Surely!

Hello good Folks,

I am not exactly a newbie to Reaper - but this is doing my head in!

All I'm wanting to do is simply align a MIDI track to a WAV track. (ie same music - different performer) I had expected that inserting markers on each track and then aligning them would be pretty straight forward. But apparently this is more complicated than flying to the moon.

Can somebody please tell me that I am not the only person in the world wanting to do this?

I remember there used to be script for this kind of thing - but its been withdrawn? (Mutli tools Mouse.... something??)

I am hoping that someone out there in the reapersphere can shed some light on this.

Don't be shy.. now is your moment to save the day!

Many Thanks.

What sort of markers are you using? Stretch markers only work for audio.

It depends on which track you are using as a time reference, midi or audio.

If you are using the audio as a timing reference, just edit the midi directly.
Hint: Select the midi track and press E to open the midi for editing in the project view, so you can see both midi and audio at once.

If you are using the midi as the timing reference, use stretch markers (or the old item split & slide method, if that suits you better) to fix the audio timing while observing its relationship to the midi track.

(and stop calling me Shirley! )

Wow - that 'E' trick is great! I never discovered this before. I will definitely have a look at that. What I was thinking was what the same as in this quick YouTube demo. I borrowed this from another forum - but this guy was searching for the same thing. Its strange that I'm pretty sure there was something in Reapack that used to do this but its been removed.... It just seem a lot easier than manually entering in time changes etc to match the Wav track https://youtu.be/AK-fShew2M8

Are you talking about the ReaTeam MIDI Tool Multi Editor? I can't get this to work, but while I was trying it I realised that you can Alt+left drag selected MIDI notes by the edge, the same as media items. This may help you.
