Default V6 Theme Mod - In Progress

https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2429/V...ReaperThemeZip

I've been playing with the Default V6 theme.
My taste is NO Panel Coloring, Label IS colored.
Options are available in the Preferences Dialog, if you choose to use/not use them.
I don't like shadows on controls in the TCP.
A Knobstack is used on all knobs.
It works with the standard theme_adjuster.
It should support everything that the Default does.

This is 1920x1080...
MCP's is 150%, TCP's are 200%, MasterMCP is 100%...slightly modified

Colored backgrounds are enabled, colored label backgrounds is off.

I'll post other images when I get some time.

All comments welcome

Thanx to White Tie for creating a great theme.
Thanx to b0se for the tcp_bg image.

Tested on a portable install...so should not be any settings problems. (I hope)

.ps Two Global Layouts have been added Large and Medium. They are a bit clumsy YMMV.

On first aquaintance I like this variation on the 6 theme, with tasteful easy on the eye colour scheme. I could use this too - when (or if) the issues with the colour of writing on the track panel is sorted. Look forward to developments

Contrast in the track panel issues:
Having loaded up some more projects certain colour combinations clash badly -appearing to glow in a tiring manner, whereas the standard 6 theme is fine.

For instance red writing on an aqua blue background

Also light red writing on a dark red background is similarly difficult on the eye.

Multiple colour combos really don't work yet.

Thanx...I think?

I mentioned that I don't like colored panels Softsynth.
In fact I would say that I really don't like them.
However I'm still looking at changing the panels so that
coloring can be used in a way that allows the label
to be colored as well as the panel.
That means.(drum roll)..partially colored panels.

YMMV

Have you thought about aligning the recmode and recarm buttons?

Some of my tracks in the mixer panel are much wider than other tracks, even though they're set the same...just when I load this theme. I love the look of the theme though

I took your dislike for coloured panels to be an explanation for only colouring the track name box rather than the whole track.

The most coloring I can talk myself into Softsynth.

Something like this lucas_LCS?

I'm not sure how you're getting that result vsthem, something in the theme_adjuster?

This is 200% tcp&mcp 1920x1080

.ps stash updated

I notice in your first post some of the fader backgrounds are coloured as per the track names on some tracks only. Is this a specific coloured layout you choose per track or should it be part of the default layout, if you know whet I mean...?

Those colours are directly linked to the automation mode. Green for read, yellow for touch and red for write.

Looks like I am spouting a load of nonsense as usual

On your previous mod of the theme on my screens the track insert/sends hardware outputs area in the mixer tracks was coloured. The track panels were fully coloured too.

Looking at your latest update that has now gone. The splash of colour works well with the scheme, given the colour being repeated in the notes on the piano roll.

The record monitoring loudspeaker driver symbol (in the mixer) looks a little unusual facing upwards, however I have several unusual loudspeaker designs that are arranged in this manner so not so strange for me!
The blue grey colour scheme looks great on my screen.

I can swap between this and the original version happily so far.

Previously I liked to occasionally swap between the RADO and Commala dark variants. I can add this theme to the mix. Cheers.

The fact that I cannot color the track number label only has been the biggest deal-breaker keeping me from switching to a v6 theme. I just tried this mod, and I encounter the exact same problem I found when I was dinking around with the tcp_bg and bgsel images in December:

You can color the area of the number label only, but the color does not move with the label when indenting the tracks as folders. It seems that the color of the actual track pane overlays the number label. So if the number label is to the left of the TCP, I don't know that it's possible to do this.

On my v5 theme, the colors only show on the number label, but the placment is to the right of the track, so there is no indentation issue.

I really wish there was a way to apply track colors specifically to the number label. Or if it is possible, I would like to know how it is done.

Interesting. How do you get the M,S and meters all to the left of the track?

Thanks! I was looking in rtconfig and did not know this was an option in Theme Adjuster. Yeah, this can then be made to work, I think, by expanding the transparent part of the tcp pngs. I'll try setting this up later when I get time to tweak. I will still need an equivalent in the mcp, but this is progress.

Thanx for your comments y'all.
As far as element positioning etc...
this theme works like the default.
The only changes I've actually made are...

The coloring
The MCP monitor images&positioning
*_bg*.png & *_id*.png are modified.

That's basically it...

As I say this theme is very well designed to be modified.

Now I'll take a peek at the adjuster...

Is there a sample of the track view, all I see is the mixer view.
I hope this version of version 6 theme doesn't have all the issues of the theme that is included with version 6.

I look at the jan22 version and saw no major change.
To get to controls that appeared available without right click to get to them are not available.

My favorite theme is "Reaerah", don't have to go through all kinds of bs to use.

When someone makes a decent theme for ver 6 then I will get a license, until then my DAW will be ver 5

Nobody said the upgrade is obligatory. Maybe your favourite theme will be updated?
There wasn't any major changes, but then I like the Reaper 6 theme, so I like this and I am quite happy to swap between this tweaked version of the theme and the original.

Maybe you would like this one, which is sharp and clear?:

For my own use I prefer your last version. Not keen on the oversized elements when using 150% size and the colours in the mixer inserts (used at full screen here) seem to exaggerate contrast in a way that doesn't appeal on my screen - used this way. Underlined for emphasis - these elements may be welcome with your set up.

Even so I appreciate your theme variant, and ongoing developments.

It's all about the colors Softsynth.
They have to be quite dim in order for the coloring
to work when it's enabled...

My take on coloring... ;-)

Latest...this img uses both colored labels an backgrounds.
Of course you can turn em off.

As usual works with the default theme adjuster.
All three sizes supported.

Oh, in that case I've done something wrong as your take on the 6 theme has never worked with the 6 theme adjuster here (it's always greyed out).

This variant on the main theme is looking good again though.
