Default recording issues

the other day when i was trying to record a new track, i had strange fuzz coming in to my track. it was a new track but not a new song, there were a few other tracks prerecorded.I went into the system and tried to fix it to no avail., but worse when I went back in to record, the other tracks were now bleeding into this new track. it acted like feedback , and the led showed it was somehow going in to the track I wanted to record on. i tried the same thing in another song and it did it there also so therefore it is in the set up or preferences, i would assume. problem is i cant figure out what i changed to create this or where to find the setting i need to change back to fix it. the initial issue above only happens when I arm the track....please help

Windows 10? Do you have microphone access enabled in the Windows privacy settings?

No. In the privacy settings if "microphone access" is disabled you won't be able to record your inputs. Windows may also loop back your soundcard's output back into the input.
