Default Mouse modifier: set left side of time selection

Does anyone know of a mouse modifier or custom action to set the left side of a time selection?
I'm aware of shift+Lclick but this always acts on the nearest side to the cursor. I'd like to set the left side of the selection even when I'm zoomed in on the right/later side.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to set the left side of the time selection, you want to set the start point. There are actions to set time selection start/end points;
Time selection: Set start point
Time selection: Set end point

For mouse modifiers, only if you link time selection and loop. You will find actions in the ruler and track sections to edit (extend) the loop. Works on whichever side you're closer to, so if that's not what you want you need to use regular actions like xpander said.

You can also choose one of those actions as the mouse modifier by clicking "actions list..." from the dropdown menu (available for click actions but not drag). But this may move your edit cursor as well, even if you don't want that.
