Default Features Questions

I am new to sound editing and do not have a program yet, looking for something basic and looking into Reaper based on reviews. Right now all I want to do is:

- Import MIDI files created from a digital keyboard I have using piano sounds
- Fix some bad notes recorded in a practice session using the same piano sounds
- Save the MIDI file and be able to play it back on my digital keyboard

Will Reaper allow me to do that? The price of the product is well within my budget.

Thanks to anyone who replies to my thread - Eric

Yes, it will easily do that. Check out Kenny Goias videos on midi in Reaper.

To clarify a little further.... Midi is data only...no sound.

So there are two basic options

You can certainly import and edit the midi as you wish, but to hear the "exact" same sounds you hear from your piano the only way is to have Reaper send the midi back into the piano to play it....which will at least require either a midi interface or your piano to have built in midi over usb.

The alternative is that you have the midi play back a virtual piano instrument inside of Reaper which has the advantage of being self contained but the sound will not be a perfect match (should be perfectly fine for editing)
There is no included piano but there are free options available elsewhere if you want to go this route.
