Default transpose treble to bass clef software ?

Hello,

Approx 5 years ago I used something like Noteworthy or Mozart to transpose Irish Jigs and reels and various guitar tunes from treble clef to bass clef and then I would play them on cello for fun. I was a fairly easy cut and paste trick at the time.

I found it too confusing to read the treble clef and then play the right notes on the cello.

That was some years ago and I imagine software has improved significantly since.

What would you recommend for doing this exercise today ?

Has this sort of software become advanced enough to read and then play a scanned sheet of music yet ?

What are currently best thought of freebies and cheapies in music notation software ?

Regards

Bill

Check out MuseScore.

www.musescore.org

The price is right (free), but you can send a donation.
The software doesn't recognize a scanned sheet of music. You have to first enter the notes, but with a few more mouse clicks you can translate to any key, clef, or instrument.

There are youtube videos available to get up to speed rather quickly.
