Default LCS_Default_2.0

Available on Stash

A 'dark' version is also available: LCS_Default_2.0_Dark

DETAILS:
Built from Reaper v2 Default.
Default 2 is what Reaper looked like when I started using it.
I was curious to see what I could do with it and this is what I came up with.
I added several new layouts for the MPC and the Master MPC, but the other layouts are based on fallback defaults White Tie created for older themes to use in Reaper 4, 5 & 6.
see the CHANGES MADE and ADDITIONAL MADE sections below for details.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Copy the 'LCS_Default_2.0.ReaperThemeZip' file in your 'Reaper/ColorThemes' folder

----------------------
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- This theme is best used with 1080 and lower resolutions.
- This theme is compatible with Reaper 6, but does not use the Theme Adjuster
- The Recinput is only available in the TCP on the meter when the track is armed.
- This theme uses faders (aka: 'Sliders') for Volume & Pan instead of knobs.
- The theme uses Reaper v4 style track coloring.
- If you want brighter meters, use the Theme Tweaker to turn off the interlace style meters.
- This theme works in Reaper v2 and v3 using the 2 additional RTconfigs for those versions.
----------------------

CHANGES MADE:
- desaturated/removed color from backgrounds and non active buttons.
- changed text and symbols on almost all buttons.
- swapped the meter and fader positions on the MPC layouts
- split the 4 MPC 'Compact' layouts into 2 Narrow and 2 Strip layouts and reorganized them

ADDITIONS MADE:
- made I/O & NoRec missing states buttons for the MPC and TPC
- made a dedicated I/O button for the MASTER MPC
- made a dedicated FXin button for the MCP and TCP
- Big Meter layouts for the MPC and Master MPC
- Sidebar layout for the MCP
- Separator and VCA layouts for the MPC and TCP
- Blue, Green, Red and Gold (aka: yellow) fader layouts for the MCP & TCP.

---------------------- CHANGELOG ----------------------
UPDATE: 10/14/2020
- added track labels to the Separator layouts
- updated the screenshots to reflect the current state of the theme.

UPDATE: 10/04/2020
- added TCP FX & Send List images for Reaper v6.14
- altered to FXParam images to match the above
- Rebuilt the MCP FX list, FX Param List and Send list.
- created new Mute and Solo buttons for the MCP Strip layout
- tweaked the Narrow layout meter position & length

UPDATE: 09/16/2020
- slightly resized Default and all layouts based on that size for better appearance.
- adjusted meter position & length when FXin button is active on TCP & MCP
- set FXin button to appear when track is armed for MPC "PAN ON TOP", "WIDTH CONTROL", "WIDTH CONTROL PAN ON TOP" and "BIG METER" layouts.
- Fixed issue with Toolbar text buttons being hard to read when not active.
- changed Big Meter Volume background for better appearance
- swapped meter and fader positions for MPC PAN ON TOP layout. (issue was missed in earlier versions)
- added alternative RTconfig files for better compatibility with Reaper v2 & v3.
- updated the screenshots

UPDATE: 09/15/2020
- improved meters for all layouts
- took brightness out of the FX Bypass button to better match other non-active buttons
- added Volume Label to bottom of the MCP Big Meter layout
- fixed graphic error on VCA layout
- updated the screenshots

Did a little recording this morning... Updated to newest version...

Looks very good! Nice, clean and clear. Lots of layout options. I like how colors are handled. I like how the TCP & MCP elements are bundled together. A brighter theme that I had no problem using!

The only thing I saw was the pan label ‘center’ text was cut off in the TCP & MCP but they are in your screenshots as well so assume that was a compromise you had to make...

And I use text toolbars and the text was not legible for me unless the button’s were active?

Awesome!
thanks for the feedback.

I think the new meters are a definte improvement.
Unfortunately, the new border disappears if the theme is used in Reaper v2 & v3, but so do all the non-default layouts.
Versions 2 & 3 don't use WALTER, so not much can be done about.
Other than that, the theme seems to work well in both of those versions.

I'm not seeing this issue.
I changed the Snap button to use text and it looked OK.
Can you give abutton example to try or is it the size of the text?
If so, you should be able to change that in tweaker.
double check any other label text before you save to make sure it doesn't affect anything else poorly.

Very cool theme!

Here's a screenshot. I haven't had a chance to investigate... Is there a toolbar_blank.png?

there was no 'Blank' button.
made one to match the others and adjusted the text.
Still not sure why it looked so different on your system, though.

I made some other changes as well.
will post the update in a cuouple of hours.
need to do new screenshots, again..

That did it... Text toolbars look great!

I like the 'folder indent disabled' layout in the TCP. It's still very clear to see what is what...

Meters look cool and fit in well with everything else.

Nice work! I'll be keeping this theme on my laptop B)

Thank you!

That would be a thank you to White Tie.
It's one he did for the v2 & v3 themes to use in later Reaper versions.
All of the TCP layouts except for the Separators are his with minor tweaks for the meter and the FXin button.

Most of the layouts in the MPC are also just tweaked versions of his layouts.
The Narrow, Strip and both of their minimal variants were originally named 'compact'.
I split them into 2 different categories, then tweaked them quite a bit to better suit my tastes.

The following are the layouts I added:
- MPC Big Meter
- MPC Sidebar
- MPC Master Big Meter
- MPC Master Big Meter MK2
- TCP & MPC Separators

Thank you!
Thanks!
I was pretty happy with them once I made the change.
Wish there was a way to make them look like that in Reaper v2 & v3.
The theme still looks pretty good in those versions, though.

Glad to hear it's working well for you.

Possible changes:
---------------------
I may move the top position of the meter in the Narrow layouts to match the top position of the Phase button.
I would then move the track number to the center.

I might attempt a dark version if enough users are interested in it.

Dark version would be cool!

It looks like all of your themes have had an enormous amount of downloads...

The light versions tend to have about half the amount of downloads of the dark versions.

I think at best, it will eventually even out a bit.
I suspect the dark themes will always tend to be more popular, though.

Small vote for lighter themes with good contrast/clarity.
Dark themes are very difficult in that they usually mean light letters on a dark background, which is very difficult for us old farts to see.

true, but the lighter themes are harder on the eyes in darker control/mixing rooms.

Very well selected palette of gray colors,
it's almost rubbery to look at..

@ +NRG:
Thanks. Hope to have it finished soon.

@ ernzo:
'rubbery'? I can see that.
It looks more like heavy plastic on a 4-track to me though.
like a Porta-One or a Fostex XR-7.
then again, the Porta-One also had those rubber coated EQ and Pan knobs.

One plus for the light version of this theme... It makes the non-themable elements / windows in REAPER less jarring.

I like the logic when resizing the TCP.

The other thing I realized I like about theses themes is the use of faders / sliders for pan!

Yeah, I left it like that to keep the same, then started enjoying them myself.

NOTE: the the dark version has just passed the light version in downloads.
What I have seen most themes with light and dark vesions is the dark versions usually get almost twice the downloads.

Yes, the TCP logic in both themes...

The sliders for pan just work better visually for me. I want to try to implement that for my V6 mod...

You called it! Dark themes are more popular right now...
