Problems with version 6.14

The main problem are levels and that problem is huge. It's that bad with couple of my songs, that I'm not able to mix them on version 6.14.

I had to go back to version 6.13 and all levels are as designed and adjusted before.

I have tried few times to correct it in 6.14 but I have given up and use 6.13

I'm suspecting some data on some tracks exists from a little older song and is pushing volume levels to the max on few tracks. When loaded back to 6.13, all is working perfectly.

Also some plugins don't like 6.14 like Bx_console SSL 4000 G goes right to the max with volume on 6.14 and is normal with 6.13. Could be the same problem.

Similar problem I have with Luftikus and I have notice some problems with synth Arturia Pigments2, using a huge resources. When I changed the old track to new one, it seems to be working fine.

Than I got some idea and I’ve copied from 6.13 Reaper.ini to new version 6.14. Initially I thought it's working fine, but when restarted Reaper, things came back again.

That suggests that some setting in new version are not friendly with previous version.

Also two not to old songs (6 months) are seems to working fine.

It's there any way to fix that problem?

It’s any way to clean some cache on older songs or reset some settings to overcome these problems?

Can you be more clear and specific what is actually happening and how it differs - v6.14 versus v6.13, please?

On 6.13 my drums are in the middle of the track volume and all sounds as saved. Nice.

Just checked again and...

.... on 6.14 is showing meter on all drum tracks max level and on some +19.40 but it sound OK. And few tracks are is like that, mainly on drums, bass and all the loudest tracks. However the sound is exactly the same like on older version, but is very hard to work like that.

On 15 tracks I have this problem, but sound seems to be not affected. Just looks crazy and it's very hard to work on that song.

That is my current and calm observation. ;-)

With Pigment I had about 2 hours working on sound and at some stage my PC could not handle some more demanding and complicated sound and the system started to go wild, stuttering etc.

I have removed that track and I put synth on new track and all is good.

So that's the whole story.

For meter/levels issue try to compare meters settings
REAPER Preferences > Appearance > Track Control Panels:
VU meters - meter minimum value: / Max value:

Maybe you have it set different from defaults in your v6.13.

Well, I am not sure if meters range calibration differences would show that exact +14db readout. But it is worth to look anyway to rule it out at least.

Also could you "install" v6.13 as portable, additionaly next to your other versions and open the project in fresh, yet not-customized v6.13 and see what will happen? Will it behave like in your old original v6.13 or like in v6.14?

There was one option different in 6.14

It was ticket On: * Track meters display pre-fader meters

In version 6.13 was not.

Of course I've realized, that's the problem. Anything else was the same.

PS. Just opened the same song on 6.13, ticket that option and the same problem. So it's definitely fixed.
