Default Odd EZ Drummer loading behavior!

Can anyone explain why this might be:

If I load EZD by way of a Track Template (carried over from my old computer), everything's fine.

But if I try to call it up through the FX window, it doesn't work! It comes up all "blacked out" in the windows; only the "outside" of the GUI appears, and is unresponsive to any clicking.

I've cleared the cache and re-scanned, but it makes no difference.

I have not used EZD with a track template, but it reacts similarly when opened from the Add FX dialog UNLESS I have "Always run FX" enabled in preferences. When I open a song where EZD already exists, I have to open the FX dialog before EZD will begin loading the samples. FWIW it does the same in my other hosts. Cubase LE will not allow the drag and drop of MIDI grooves from EZD for some reason so Cubase LE is almost totally useless. n-Track just flat out acts screwy and Sonar 4LE won't run it all unless I use that stupid "wrapper" thing sooo... EZD and Reaper is what I use. Aside from the anomalies mentioned above, I am having a great time with EZD and Reaper. Thing is, I don't if the weirdness is Reaper or EZD???

Thank you Diogenes, I remember the "Always run FX" thing coming up a while back, possibly with EZD. I assumed I had this already ticked, but now that I'm looking to check, I can't even find the dang setting!

I'm feeling pretty lame about this, but can you (or anyone else) direct me to where it is specifically?

Jamester,

If I'm not mistaken it's prefrences/playback/run fx when stopped (good for certain vsti). I don't think it's listed as always run track fx anymore (or I couldn't find it either). Hope that helps.

Woot - there it is! :-)

I saw that before and figured that might be it, but pizza came and I got distracted before I could check it out.

Just checked, and it's all good now! Shouldn't this preference be in the VST seciton? One thing I notice about Reaper, is that all these different preferences could be more logically organized imho.

Thanks again Gary!

That's where I would look first. Seems a little more logical.

Glad that did it.
