Default Testing Reaper - reporting in

It is still the evaluation period for me, so take this with a grain of salt... (although I am about ready to buy)

testing the processing and multi processors functions - the four that I have are at 64 bit.. I know this is an old machine say five or seven years old..or more.. long time with me.

so I recorded midi and audio simultaneously to edit and tried closing the midi edits windows cause it was easier to copy past in the actual main window then in the editing window.. I close one then go to close the other and crash and do I wait for the program to respond or close the program ,, I wait.. to no avail,.. before now it said after I recorded three midi outs into two midi fields and two audio files that it was saving the two midi's and the two waves... then I went and manipulated the heck of the midi fields. (for a second playback/thru/records)

the waves were saved as wave files and the midi was saved? as per what I read after the end of the first performance test,..

I can not find said midi files... saved anywhere in the project folder or anywhere. The first save was before the records and I went forth not worries after the program said it saved the records but I know I should saved everything right there after performance and midi/audio creation.. but I did not, know it would crash, It has never crashed during the evaluation period..

sadness = for lost midi,.. the stuff I will never get to manipulate from a free form touch and go performance i did on three midi devices.. and a guitar.

a to do list, maybe?
  1. find the midi files it says it saved at the end of performance?
  2. fix/make the auto-save subroutine in the Reaper?
  3. warn someone like me that there is no autosave function ,,, yet.
  4. or let me/us know where it is.
  5. live long and prosper...
  6. pay for the program -

1- the midi files are included into the RPP file.
If you need them apart, see files/export midi

2- yes, reaper has an autosave option.

see options/preferences/project/project saving and choose here your convenient option.

Hi m8w and welcome to Reaperland!

You can find the auto-save settings in "Options -> Preferences -> Project" in the frame. "Project saving". They're quite comprehensive. Once set, you don't need to care about them anymore.

As Gibi wrote MIDI is kept in the .rpp file (per default, I think), but you can either export project MIDI or you can go to "Options -> Preferences -> Media -> MIDI" and at "Create new MIDI items as:" choose "MIDI files".

Oh, just saw, Gibi showed the way to auto-save already.

Default used the program for a month.. back then..

thanks so much for being patient with me... I have finally been funded to get your program,.. but, just the 60$ version for personal use.. no business opening up or opportunities intended at this point ...

I figured lots out as the program is very intuitive.. nice work..

so.. this newer version of reaper. is awesome ,, Is there a video channel you guys have, with tutorials and other things..?(most likely a search would solve that.)

congrats on the radio channel excellent.

I did fatally crash back in may.. ;( reaper died.. but we have recovered, I think. probably for doing something that was "unexpected" that reaper was not ready for.. and or my computer as well.

it was ok lost some midi work but it was just the month test thing.

I am attempting to install the lame mp3 codecs duh I went by the manual from august but the link inside the program to the browser was best.. that worked.

So this is more an update post then nitpicking if you will..

Youtube is littered with Reaper Vids, also there is a Wiki.
All this and a freely downloadable user manual!

If you have a small amount of cash, groove3 has some excellent vids, as does Johnny Ginese.
Both Johnny and Kenny G - authors of these tutorials - are regular visitors here too.

Compare the number of cubase and live tutorials with the number of Reaper tutorials on YT.
Still think you are tripping over them ?! :0)

Besides that, +1 on the Johnny and Kenny tuts, they are very good.

this does not make sense?

but fyi the reaper tests have made the grade... errr passed expectations and more so..

I have actually begun using reaper over playing my favorite scifi game online.. ... for me that is saying lots..

currently as of September 1 I have started the site..
here is going to be the hub of my work with music and video.. and such..

that may of been a selfless.. Plug. --sorry..

my equipment seems to faluter even with sony acid studio.. not as much with reaper. but still the MIDI in my supernova II os 2.0 seems to go down and crash then the midi to computer does not work as well I believe this is a hardware problem because the korgmicroXL does not crash much anymore...

Oh since I have gotten used to the reaper program it crashes a lot less ... that is all that was needed a little more knowledge

peace out
Bill
