AKAI LPK25 won't open as MIDI
I have recently bought an AKAI LPK25 USB MIDI keyboard. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work with Reaper 5. Can someone please talk me through what I need to do from installation as I am obviously missing something.

If you go to Options/Preferences/Audio/MIDI Devices can you see your keyboard there? If so, make sure the input is enabled as well as input for control messages.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish ?
To record the Midi notes you need to check if the keyboard is "enabled" in Options/Preferences/Audio/MIDI Devices ("Enable Control" not necessary) , and you will find it in the track's "Input Midi" selection list.
To hear what you are plying you need to add a virtual instrument in the track FX chain and "enable Monitor" in the track.
To control Reaper functions by controls on the keyboard you need to activate "Enable Control".

lpk25 woes
I seem to be having similar problems. which is my Akai LPK25 does NOT appear in the midi devices list, all is see is the two following options:
MIDI IN
USB Audio device
Sorry for being a noob, but we all have to learn somewhere.
One thing I am certain of, is that the LPK25 works fine in Studio One 2, but can't get it to work in Reaper. Any advice gratefully recieved.

I'm not familiar with the LPK25 nor its MIDI drivers. And I certainly know nothing about your setup.
What are "MIDI IN" and "USB Audio Device"? Are they other MIDI devices that you have connected? Or is one of them possibly the LPK25 masquerading under a deceptive name?

Which operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) are you using?
In general, the LPK25 is plug & play and doesn't require any special drivers. But as lunker already mentioned above, it might be the case that one of these generic entries represent the LPK25. If so, make sure that this midi device entry is enabled for input. More info here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmEy49PH9p8

Mine works but it's a little finicky. Reset all midi devices in preferences select lpk25 and make sure it's enabled.
I also bought a usb hub with on/off individual switches that I often need to'refresh' usb connection.
