Audio/MIDI feedback
Why is it still considered 'feedback' if I have a send and a receive from a track in another one, if I am just sending Audio and receiving MIDI (or vice-versa)? I understand that if I send AND receive both to the other track then the feedback applies, but I can't see why if the setup is asymmetrical...
The reason I ask is that I would like to leave the 'Allow feedback' project setting disabled in projects where I have multi-output VSTs that send MIDI to the track with the FX.
Also, does anyone know if there is a way to keep tracks "together" (eg, like in a folder but without creating a submix), just for organizational purposes.
Thanx.

Yes. For each track in the folder, disable the "Send to master/parent" option in the I/O settings. Then create a send for each track in the folder to wherever you want each track to go. In the simplest case, you could create a send from each sub-track to the Master track. In more complex cases, you can route each sub-track to its own FX track outside the "organizational" folder track -- whatever else meets your needs.

Thanks for your reply.
Ok, but unless I didn't understand you correctly, that means I still have to go through the parent folder to reach the master... Actually, this is how I use my multi-out VSTs as suggested by someone here in the forums a while back. Is this the case?
Cheers.

If you disable "Send to master/parent" for the tracks inside the folder, their audio (and MIDI) doesn't go anywhere unless you explicitly set up a send for those tracks. Also note that you do not need to disable "Send to master/parent" on all tracks in the folder -- some can route through the folder parent, and some can bypass it (or they can do both -- route to the parent and send to another track).
Personally, I think I would get confused having to remember which tracks route through the parent and which don't. But I get your idea about wanting to use a folder strictly for organizational purposes. If it works for you, do it.
