Does this cause stretching/compressing of the meters? The meters in some themes that use more complex meter_ol_mcp_master images look pretty weird now and the readouts are in unfitting places.
Also is there a way to change the background color of the loudness readout (or make it transparent)?

I don't see a download link there, is there a directly downloadable theme you can link to, or mail to support at cockos?
... never mind, I see the problem. We'll have to handle this via changes in the default theme, rather than changes in the code.
[edit] please see post number 18 below.

No other themes among the few I own have this problem so I can’t point one out that is freely available, but I guess it affects every theme that has something other than a static background as meter overlay. I am sure there are some. Should you still need the theme to try things out just let me know and I will send it to you.
It doesn’t seem to me that there is a problem with the default theme though, looks fine there. But I hope you can come up with a solution that doesn’t break themes like I Logic or at least some indications for themers on how to edit images/WALTER to get the themes back to how they looked before.

+ JSFX: support writing output automation of loudness meter
Just to say that this is awesome but..
I'm getting a lot of drop outs in the automation (even with the plugin UI complete closed). Especially after a few seconds of writing the automation and it gets worse if I scroll or click somewhere else.
I recall us having this with normal automation too for a bit but that got fixed at the time. Maybe it's related?
Either way.. It's a very useful thing to have!

Wait: does this mean, I could write a JSFX, that monitors loudness during rendering and writes the values into a parameter-automation for later checkout for clippings?

Not really, the automation recording speed is not every sample. You could write a JSFX that writes a log file or does something else if it sees any overs, but you could also just read the rendered file.

Thank you! This is very helpful for my workflow.
While you are working on consolidate, any chance we can have the option to not create repeak files?

These loudness additions are so nice. Thanks devs!
One question, is there a chance for TP metering on the Master? I understand it eats a bit more of CPU but I think it would be very useful. Maybe an option in the meter settings?

Thank you for these tweaks and additions! There is SO much progress in this release. Can't wait to spread the word.
Maybe one day I'll get used to the render button position and won't accidentally dry run everything! (I'd only just got used to the previous move )

OK, after consulting with White Tie, I think we can make it so the loudness readout is displayed more prominently without messing up that particular theme.
But please note that theme uses a static overlay image for the mixer VU meters, with meter numbers written into the image. This is a theme hack, and means that in any version of REAPER, that theme (and themes like it) won't display correct meter levels if you change the VU meter scaling in Preferences > Appearance.

Ahh, I see.
My idea is to be able to insert into all tracks such a "monitoring JSFX" so I can also get clippings in individual tracks. For that, reading the rendered file would only be feasible when rendering stems.
But writing a logfile is a good idea. Is there a way for the jsfx to know, which track it is on or which fx-guid it has? That way, I could use the tracknumber/fx-guid for the logfile-names to keep them separate, but I haven't found something in the JSFX-reference.

I’ve never understood why reaper doesn’t add meters, their scale and any fader dB scale as separate elements in the themes, controllable from Prefs, rather than part of a more general painted background. Let the themers do their design, art and initial meter settings, which are an overlay of functional vector stuff over the top that users can easily later set.
Let the users then decide what colour the meters are, what scale and division (and unit) their meters are and any fader scaling. It seems counterproductive to have to dig down into the skin to change meters and faders, separating them from the user. I don’t want to have to be a themer to change such basic functionality.
Also, meter colouring and the values at which it changes are part of the EBU loudness paradigm anyway, aren’t they? Definitely needs to be a user Prefs setting…
</rant> (Sorry, it’s off my chest now).

Thanks a lot, really appreciate that you go out of your way to support one specific theme hack!

I am well aware of that given that I have modded that image for my own theme.
Meter scaling and overlay image need to be tweaked in accordance to eachother and if one of the two is changed the meters will be off.
Perhaps for such a hack it could be useful to allow setting the meter scaling in the rtconfig and gray the preferences out for the user? So that the themer decides for his theme and the user can't mess it up.

Hello devs,
There is an issue with "view: toggle displaying labels above media items: on" and media items overlapped with 100%.
The item title should not be over the overlapped item.
Thx you!

Hi, at the bottom, there is an offset issue between the regular item and the overlapped item (maybe 1 px or 2):

Unless I misunderstood you, the meters already work this way.
If you cannot control the behaviour and color from the Options/Preferences or the theme Tweaker, then you will need to remove whatever the themer did to block those functions.
RE: Fader Scale
Having a fader scale provided by Reaper with a scale that could expand and contract like the meter scale would definitely be helpful.

I have other examples of this (not at the comp right now), try check:
Theme Tweaker > Interlaced VU color
-it seems to be present on themes that are based on Default 5

I would like to not diplay the rms numbers.

ok I see. In early dev versions the interlaced meter option was affecting this area.
Have you tried change the image "meter_bg_mcp". In v6 the VU meter images (if any) are drawn in front, which make it look like this example. It may be different in your case.
