Default Can I route the audio between items?

Imagine I have an FX on an item...Is there any way to sent (or receive) audio from another item for sidechaining? (audio 3/4 normally)

interesting question and I don't really know... did you just try it?

send audio to that track on 3/4 and see if the item FX responds?

if not, I guess you'd have just make a dupe track for the item[s] and use FX on that track and not on just the items

I'm pretty sure not. Routing is a track thing, isn't it?

I have already suggested this as a new feature. Cockos still have not seen the huge potential that they can have with Media Items. With the help of routing and persistence, a reusability can be lifted to a whole new level with only minor adjustments (such as key or chord changes). I already do that with subprojects used as media items. But media items would be much better because I am not limited in sound design (I can not play Project and Subprojecte at the same time).

I’d imagine you could use the gmem send and receive plugins or this.
