Default "set default mouse modifier for ..."

Dear Reapers,

I notice a lot of actions in the Action List named: "set default mouse modifier for ..."

I really have no clue what these actions mean / can do / work.

I am very curious, someone willing to explain ?

Thanx in advance !

When you open the mouse modifiers, you'll see each context and all the modifiers set for them listed in there. In every context there is a default action and that is what these Set default mouse modifier action for actions will change.

I'll give you an example of how I use them. In MIDI piano roll left drag context, the default action is Insert note, drag to extend or change pitch. That is fine for many uses, but let's say I want to draw a straight continuous line of notes. I could use another modifier key to do that, but sometimes I may want to just draw with left drag. By changing the MIDI piano roll left drag default action to Paint a straight line of notes, I can do that. Having a few different Set default mouse modifier actions on the toolbar, I can just click them to change between different behaviors.

That's something I wondered for quite some time too but never bothered to ask (or look up in the user guide ahem).

So thanks also xpander for the explaination and example, useful indeed.

You're welcome. Yep, these are handy for temporary default behavior changes done quickly, without going to preferences to edit the mouse modifiers.
