Default Rendering in mp4 format for VR

Hi all, I have just started in the world of VR recording and I have a dilemma. I am recording using an Insta360 Pro and creating 6400x6400 video files with 4 channels of surround audio. The format that the Insta360Player uses for playback is mp4. I am easily able to upload individual files into Reaper and stitch them together, but I cannot seem to find a way to save them back into their original format via render. I tried using .mov and those did not work. I also tried using mkv and then handbrake(an older post suggested that) but the mkv file size will be too large to be of use to me, I will be working with 45min videos eventually.

I’ve attached a Dropbox folder with my Reaper session and a small video in the correct format for the player.
Any suggestions?

if you render as mov and then change the file name to .mp4 does that work?

I tried that and the player didn’t recognize it. I am also having difficulty figuring out the proper audio format to render in, so that I get the 4ch output that is similar to the original file.

Default Mov files seem to play fine

I can render in mov with 4 channel audio, and it will play on the pc using VLC, but I can’t seem to get it to play on the Insta360Player. I’ve tried rendering in mkv and just changing the file signature to mp4 and it doesn’t play, same with mov. I am now looking for a VR player that will play mov with spatial audio on my Android, though I will be looking for a better VR headset soon. Unfortunately, the one that is rated best for people with glasses is the Sony PlayStation VR headset and that has a lower resolution than others out there. Still working on a solution around not being able to save in the original mp4 format.
