Midi notes in editor are too large
Hello below are two screenshots
the first is before i tick "hide unused and unamed note rows" option in the editor
the second is after i tick it
the notes are now way too big. is there not a way of retaining the size of the notes in the first screenshot?

zooming in vertically (in height) will make the dots bigger
zooming out vertically make the dots smaller

Make sure that the mouse pointer is placed inside the MIDI Editor when using Ctrl + MouseWheel.
Otherwise in the MIDI Editor: go to Actions > Show Action List and check if the View: Zoom vertically (MIDI relative/mousewheel) Action is mapped to Ctrl + MouseWheel (or to something else).
You can also zoom vertically by using the (+) and (-) buttons beneath the Vertical Scrollbar on the right ...

What happens if you try the minus buttons next to the scrollbars bottom right?

All it's doing is simply scaling to what named notes you have-not a lot in this case,so scaler will suit that--just edit the note name map with some blanked names/spaces= it should rea_scale nicer!

When there are note names in the piano roll keys, Hide unused and unnamed note rows does what is shown in 2nd screencap. If there is a note in some row, that row is shown, regardless of that row having a name or not. And if some row has a name, it will be shown regardless of there being any notes. Zoom should still work, so if the notes are too big, you would simply have to zoom out.
If you use the View mode Hide unused note rows, all the empty note rows would disappear, no matter if they are named rows or not. So you will only see the rows which actually have notes in them. Zoom should still work, so if the notes are too big, you would simply have to zoom out.
But, depending on how close or far you zoom in either of these View modes, there will still be a group of empty rows shown which could be called "panel filling rows". They reside below the active/shown note rows and are themselves not active, they are only there to fill up the rest of the view depending on the zoom level and how the CC lanes are adjusted. (More about this in post #14.)
Again, regardless of the View mode and what rows are showing, zoom should work.

My 'panel filling rows' are always beneath the active/shown rows regardless of which hide action chosen, but yeah, beside the point really.

Gak, what happened, now trying it again I can't reproduce what I explained earlier. You are right Goldreap, they seem to always be below the active rows. I fixed the earlier post, thanks for the correction. Now I'll have to study it a bit more...
edit: ok, found it. It seems if you load in a note name file, then the panel filling rows are both above and below the active rows when using Hide unused and unnamed note rows. Basically in this case the panel filling rows help to center the active rows in the editor. However, in use this will not apply if you have CC lanes visible, they may cover the bottom rows. Also, you'll have to switch back to showing all the notes for these changes to really apply the next time. That's where my error was when switching back and forth. Anybody wants to write a concise recap of it all?

^^^ Hmmm, no matter what I do, note name file, which option, show all note rows between other options, cc lane...whatever...I get 'panel filling rows' beneath. Must be some setting different or something....but I fear we've gone off on a tangent..sorry OP!

Hi there. Sorry if maybe I miss the point, English isn't my mother tongue. I don't have the problem you're talking about as I show
[IMG] [/IMG]
I've made a few search.
Looks to be a solution there
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=144064
I have installed a "drum mode" from this guy "Deathbyguitars" as you can see and never had this problem. Can't remember where or how I get this. "Where" was probably this place, but can't find the thread, sorry. Bye

Sorry for that.
Have you tried the other way to zoom out vertically (ctrl+shift+down)
Or as he says, to grab/lift the cc panel to the top :
"If you temporarily reduce the size of the piano roll area by raising the CC lane, you can zoom out and make the note rows as thin as desired. When you lower the CC lane again, the note rows remain thin."
Maybe you have some personnal "action" in conflict with his script.
Got no more ideas. Looked at the whole sws /action list and find nothing. Bye

Hi. First of all, if you didn't download this drum toolbar, take it.
https://stash.reaper.fm/v/30266/deat...um_toolbar.zip
If you have problems to install it, you can refer to this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Eq8mhAUYZE
where it's very well explained.
As I told you, I never had this issue before (never try to do those kind of things), but as I saw your question, I've tried it and discover that it doesn't happen on my Reaper. It's probably not only a toolbar but also some scripts that makes this problem (and some more ?) disappear. It looks to be a well known problem and the guy makes what's necessary to solve it.
Another solution looks to be this one, as seen on another video that I can't find again. (I do it for you.)
" If you temporarily reduce the size of the piano roll area by raising the CC lane, you can zoom out and make the note rows as thin as desired. When you lower the CC lane again, the note rows remain thin."

My last try for this problem. No ideas anymore. Hope it'll work. Good Bye and Luck

Is it ? I'm so happy with that. I'm not a PRO myself. Just having some good kind specialists on the french forum that have always an answer. Also, I spend a lot of time watching Youtube videos and tutorials.
Then, step by step, I manage to do nearly what I want musically and I'm quite happy of the results I have.
If you're making music, I'll be fine listening to it.
Bye. Have a good time
