Default Ability to still use sidechain from a muted track

Not really sure if this is a bug or by design, but I notice if I have a sidechain coming from a track and then mute the track, the sidechain no longer works. It would be useful to at least have an option, if a track is routed from channels 1/2 to 3/4 in another track, to allow that sidechain to still work even with the track muted.

This is by design.
You always want a mute to disable sends (think muting a vocal with reverb sends, you'd want the reverb to be muted too).
For doing what you're describing I can think of at least two ways:
1. make the send a pre-fader (you have a choice of pre or post FX too) and lower the fader to -inf
2. disable the routing to the parent/master.

Outstanding, that is a good work around for sure. I suppose one could also freeze the bus/folder and then mute the child tracks yes?

One other question; I noticed that if you run a sidechain to two separate buses, only one of them seems to work. For example, if I run a sidechain from all instrument buses from channels 1/2 to the main vocal bus on channels 3/4, then from the vocal bus channels 1/2 to the electric guitars folder/bus on channels 3/4, and then from the vocal bus channels 1/2 to the background vocals bus channels 3/4, either the sidechain on the background vocals bus works or the sidechain on the electric guitars bus works, but not both of them. Is that by design as well?

Edit: while I’m thinking about it, I suppose I could create a separate bus pre-fader, turn down that fader, then run that signal to my background vocals and that might work…

Thanks so much for your help!
